Can't see anyone who immediately matches.
Can you let me have details of the children who were living in 1881?

Thank you for your kind offer, Jean.
I have a Thomas Robertson and wife Jean living around the Dundee area (as far as I know). Sorry I don't know their ages but I would guess they would be in their 40s. A son Thomas was born approx 1861. He wasn't married at the time of the census but I don't know if he was still living at home. Other children if any are unknown.
I also have Henry Alexander Campbell, wife Mary with any of the following children: Christina 25, Archibald 23, Mary 21, Henry 19, Allan 17, Adam 15, Catherine 13, Robert 11, Dugald 8 and Margaret 7. I think the family could have been living at Monifieth as this is where Catherine was born.
Sorry for waffling on for so long. Thank you once again. I am in Australia so if there is anything I can help you with here please let me know.

Hi,
Have you got time to find a John Brown or a John Maxwell (same person) living in Portsea or Southsea? He was in the marines at Eastney Barracks a little later where he married my gggrandmother

Hello Rosanne,
Do you know the birthplace or age of John Brown/Maxwell? Without more info it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack! At the very least to try a search I need to know which county Portsea/Southsea is in. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Please get back in touch when you have more details.
Jean.

Thanks Jean,
This mysterious mr Brown/maxwell was in the marines in Kent. He was married there but I think not born there, That is why I am trying to find him on the census. I guess he would have been at the Easney Barracks on Census night under the name of John Brown (but maybe John Maxwell). He was 32 when he married to give you an idea of his age. He definitely was not married by census night as his soon to be wife was still single and working as a domestic. Hope this helps you and therefore me. Happy New Year!

Hello Rosanne,
I've got a couple of possible John Browns both born 1849/50, both soldiers and both born Ireland. Please let me have your email address and I'll send details. No John Maxwells born 1849 in Kent
