Title: The elusive Joseph Fallowfield (d1770)
Post by: Georgfriedrich on Thursday 18 January 07 14:21 GMT (UK)
Hallo,

there once was a man named Joseph Fallowfield.  A husbandman living in Holme upon Spalding Moor.
He was married to Ann X and had (at least) three sons:
Thomas 1735 - my ancestor
Christopher 1736 (a bit of a wild one)
Joseph 1742

Old Joseph was buried in 1770.
So far so good but the question is who were his parents? and where was he born?
I am presuming his father was Thomas because that is what he named his eldest son but I cannot find Joseph's in the registers that I have had access to and niether can I find a marriage for him.

Various theories abound but I am yet to find a baptism record for a Joseph Fallowfield sometimes around 1715 and up to ten years before in the area.  The Fallowfields were based in Pocklington before spreading throughout much of the East Ridings.  Is anyone able to help or offer ideas?

Regards

Kirk

Hello, I've just had a quick look at our records for the East Riding of Yorkshire, and we have several marriages for Joseph and other Fallowfields through that period.  Good luck, Toby

Thank you Toby, but none of your Joseph Fallowfields are married to anyone called Ann.  Also one must pay to use your site and I do not possess a credit card.
