Hi Nutty1966
I have been directed to your look-up offer by "Scarboro" on the East Yorkshire section and I was wondering if I am too late to take up your offer of a look-up at North Allerton.
I am trying to find confirmation of the baptism of by GGGG grandfather Samuel Porritt born c1809 in Burniston which I understand falls within Scalby parish. I have his death certificate which states age 51 when died April 1861.
I think (big question mark!!!) his parents were Thomas Porritt born 1771 in Lythe and Jane Noble born 1780 in Scalby. They married 1802 in Hackness.
The IGI for Scalby shows three children Robert 1805, Thomas 1808 and Thomasin 1811 but no mention of Samuel.
Samuel named his second born son Thomas (first born was after wife's father) and third son was called Noble (Samuel's mothers maiden name) so I think I am on the right track.
It would be fantastic if you could find details of Samuel's birth/baptism and I will gladly pay for any expenses you incur re copies/postage/travelling etc as I am unable to get to North Allerton myself.
Hope you are able to help and look forward to hearing from you again soon.
Regards
Helen

Hi

i think that samuel's father thomas was born fylingdales 12.8.1781 jane noble was born scalby(probably burniston) 17.9.1780 they married 13.7.1802 hackness - his father was probably also thomas from robin hoods bay married elizabeth wilson 6.9.1778 at r.hood's bay.
it's possible thomas born 1808 could be a thos samuel although perhaps if he is samuel then his birth may not be recorded, your other lookup may solve this problem, i note that thomasin married adam hill kirbymoorside 1819, hope this helps regards john

Hi John
Thanks for your post and the information.
It all seems relevant to my current research line however I think maybe the marraige for Thomasin is incorrect. She was born 1811 so this would make her only 9 at the time of marriage.
Thanks again

Hi,
Can I also make a request for a parish record look up please? Hopefully am not too late.
Elizabeth and Harriet King-daughters of Robert and Jane King
Both girls were baptised St Mary's Whitby on 30th Nov 1823-Elizabeth was approx 7yrs and Harriet approx 6 yrs.
Please can you check if there is a date and place of birth as both were born in Ireland? Any other info recorded would be useful as well.
Thanks in advance
Molly

Hi Jane
Sorry to be a pest but I was just wondering if you have been to North Allerton yet. I am desperate to continue my research of the Porritt line but need proof of Samuel's parentage first.
Hope you have some good news for me.
Regards

Hi Nutty
I was wondering if you've been to Northallerton records office yet? If not, please could you look up a baptism record for John Harold Grabham, 27/10/1898, in Stokesley.
Thanks very much.
