Other Documents:
List of Ticehurst Parishoners 1635
Inhabitants of Rye males aged 16 and Over in 1660
Inhabitants of Eastbourne males aged 17 – 55 in 1803.
Inhabitants of Westham in July 1751.
Inhabitants of Icklesham males aged 17 – 55 in 1803
Emigrants to America from Aldingbourne 1832
Rye Coroners Records 1608 – 1855
Winchelsea Paupers 1734 – 1847
Freeholders, Farmers and Trades – Ticehurst, Wadhurst, Burwash 1820
Fishermen of Brighton 1625

Calendar of Wills – Sussex Probate Records 1657 – 1857

As most of the above are lists compiled from research I was doing in the 1990's for the DA301 Open University Course, and the Local History Course at Sussex University - I am still able to check them for your ancestors whilst we are inputting them into that data base for easy search & retrival

Hi Chris.

Could you please be so kind as to do a lookup in the settlement certificates in Arundel for a James William Taylor, his wife Caroline Charlotte Lillywhite after 1810 onwards.

I am a newbie so hope you can help me out.

Just one other I spotted.  Arundel is West Sussex so any settlement for their would be in teh West Sussex Records Office and not Lewes

Hi madbadrob

Afraid I do not understand your comment

Just one other - what preceeded it?
Arundel is West Sussex - I never said it was in East Sussex or if I did, can you tell me where so that I can correct it please.

Incidentally, I belief that Lewes does contain a lot of the West Sussex records and vice versa - mainly from the days where they could not decide what went where and which office covered which parishes due to the boundary changes.

Hi Chris,
Please would you look at Ticehurst parishioners 1635 for any Maye/May family as I believe the Maye/May family of Wadhurst were also in Ticehurst as well as having other lands in East Sussex and Kent.
Thanks Anne

Hi Annieh

Welcome to Rootschat, I hope you find your time with us to be very productive in your search for ancestors

Just had a look throug the Ticehurst Parishoners of 1635 with the following results:

Source - East Sussex Record Office - ESRO Par.492/29/1

Anthony Maye Esqr.
Henry Maye Gente
Mrs An Maye widoe

Hope that is the kind of information you required

Hi Polly

Thanks for the compliments on the site - quite chuffed with it myself as well.

You did not give any dates for your Thonas Chestle's settlement, but as the records go from 1674 up to 1822 - checked between those dates.

Unfortunately there is no one of that name listed - the nearest being Nicholas Chettle & Family in 1703 and again in 1708.

Sorry to have to give you a negative answer

Hi
Is it possible for you to see if there are any Edmonds's amongst your records -
particularly:
Wisborough Green, probably the latter years you mention and
Washington, probably pre 1720

Thanks

Happy Christmas :)
