Title: Phillips in Milford/Pembroke area
Post by: Martin Guthrie on Friday 12 January 07 15:17 GMT (UK)
Hi All,

I'm trying to research my mother's line of Phillips and have hit a wall - can anyone help or see matches with their own trees perhaps?  This is what I have so far:-

Anne ? (b abt 1786)
had at least 2 children:

John Phillips (b abt 1815 in Milford, d abt 1881, m Sarah ? (she was b abt 1816 in Lealyham))
and
David Phillips (b abt 1826)

John & Sarah Phillips had 5 children: Mary (b abt 1837 Haverfordwest), Elizabeth (b abt 1840), George Henry (b 27/5/1844 in Pembroke Dock), John (b abt 1847 in Pem Dock), and Alfred (b abt 1849 in Pem Dock)

George H. Phillips was my g.g. grandfather and moved to England to work in the Gillingham area (he was a shipwright), married Charlotte ? and then I have pretty much the rest of the line after that.

I'm really trying to get more on the 1st 3 individuals above and to push their line further back if possible.

Any/all help appreciated!

Thanks,
Martin

Martin have Dyfed marriages on disc 1813-1837.Which covers Pembrokeshire.
Will try to find John and Sarahs marriage but need to know where she was from ive never heard of Lealyham?

Just need to ask someone with local knowledge its not on Genuki so assume its mistranscribed.
So any ideas to what Lealyham Pembrokeshire could be?

Best Wishes
Welsh Lady

Hi WL,

Attached is the census that I got it from - it looks like Lealyham to me but maybe someone with local knowledge can better say?

Thanks!
Martin

Hi Martin, we are Phillips's still living in Pembrokeshire, I think I can trace my relatives back to the John Phillips you mention born around 1840's unfortunately I dont have information any further back but I can help you fill in our Phillips line if you are interested.

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm certainly interested - especially if it's the John born in 1847 that you're referring to?

I've sent you a PM.

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,

I live in Pembrokeshire, It looks like Sealyham to me which is a tiny cluster of cottages & an Estate about 2 miles from Letterston.

Hope this helps
