Title: William BYERS - where are you?
Post by: sherylbadger on Saturday 06 January 07 10:38 GMT (UK)
I will write down everything i know and see if he pops up somewhere????   One could only hope..... ;D

I have his sons Edwin Byers birth certificate from Nov 1846 at 24 King Street St Annes, Westminster.

Father is William Byers
Occupation Servant

He is not with his family in the 1851 census.  The wifes name does not state widow it says that she is a Butlers wife.  Edwin and his twin brothers Cameron and Walter aged 3 are living with the mother.

On the 1861 census he is still not with the family infact it still state that the wife is married but not occupation .  She has her son Edwin with her and is living with her father Thomas Peter Owen in Little compton street.  I think i have found the twins deaths there is one in 1853 and one in 1852.

If they lived in Little Compton Street, St Anne, Westminster where roughly could they have been buried?

Has Anyone had any luck finding a William Byers that is a servant/butler that sort of occupation?

How else can i find him?

I suppose butler is the sort of job where you had to 'live in' - have you found him with Harriet in any later census to find his birthplace and age, to make it a bit easier to find him earlier?
There's a Wm. Byers in 1841 Grantham Place, St.Geo Hanover Sq, Mayfair
HO107/734/4 fol.40 p.23 - he's 24, born in county, and a M.S (male servant) but if him, doesn't really help much!

This may be the same man in 1851, (I know age varies) although unmarried, who knows he may have had to keep quiet about his wife and family to hold that kind of position, so thought I'd follow his career to see if he became a butler, but this census doesn't give actual job!

HO107/1467 fol.488 p.35  11 Cambridge Squ, Paddington, Marylebone in household of Mary Louisa Butler (strangely enough) widow
William Byers  servant unm 29   b. Chelsea Middlesex

Sorry can't see anyone suitable in 1861
