Hi Legs,
Thanks for your reply to my Message for a Olivia Wiseman Fisher
The 1851 census i believe which yokel sent me is the right one
Olivia married a George Swift in September? 1853 in Norwich
1841/1851 are the only census which have her maiden name as Fisher
Are you researching this Surname as well
Wendy
-
Yes I am researching the Fishers as well but mine originated from Tunstead, Norfolk and moved to Great Yarmouth. I've not come across any of the names you have mentioned so far!
I did a search for Olivia's marriage just out of interest and because you put a question mark against the sepetember in your reply.
I'm now confused!!
Olivia Wiseman Fisher did marry in September 1853 but she didn't marry George Swift....
She married either George Seago or William Peck Swift (volume 4b, page 229)
I have looke don the 1861 census and I cannot find Olivia with either husband....
-
Hi,
Thanks for your reply,
It wasnt a George but a William Olivia married,
I had a senior moment
Thanks again
Wendy
-

Here is William Peck Swift with his parents and siblings in 1841...

South Street, Bourne
John Swift, 60, Glover
George Swift, 45, Glover
Sarah Swift, 45
William Swift, 14
George Swift, 12
John Swift, 5
All born in Lincolnshire.
I would assume that John (60) would be either George (45)'s older brother or possibly father....I'll see what I can find! Remeber that the 1841 rounds adult ages to the 5 below, so John (60) could be between 60 and 64 and George and Sarah could be between 45 and 49.

And William and parents in 1851....

Susannah Atkin - 3rd April 1796
Both took place in Spalding and their paretns were William and Susannah Atkin

Susannah Moseley was christened in Spalding on October 11th 1771, her parents were John and Mary Moseley
Other children to this couple born in Spalding are as follows....
Sarah Moseley christened May 5th 1776
John Moseley christened December 25th 1777

Back again....
I digressed slightly, back to the Fisher's, here they are in 1841
HO107/2 3 2
Waterloo Yard, Norwich.
Robert Fisher, 30, carpenter
Hannah Fisher, 30
Olivia Fisher, 15
Robert Fisher, 11
Jabez Fisher, 10
Hannah Fisher, 7
Arthur Fisher, 4
Jane Fisher, 1
All born in Norfolk except Robert junior.

There is a marriage on IGI for Robert Fisher and Hannah Hoult, December 5th 1824 in St John Maddermarket, Norwich. St John Maddermarket is the Civil Parish the family were living in at the time of the 1841 census. However this IGI record is member submitted so needs to be treated with a little suspicion and the marriage will have to be verified at the Norwich RO.
edit ***** I later found the birth of Hannah Holt Fisher so I think this marriage is correct but the date could still be iffy.
-
Robert Watts Fisher was born on March 27th 1801 and christened on March 29th 1801 at Swanton Abbot, Norfolk. His parents were Samuel Fisher and Sarah Watts.
They had at least two other sons,
Thomas Fisher, born and christened on 17th December 1798, Swanton Abbot
Samuel Fisher, born 28th December 1790 and christened 6th January 1791, Swanton Abbot
Sarah Watts and Samuel Fisher married in Swanton Abbot on 25th November 1789.
-
Robert Watts Fisher and Hannah Fisher's children's births
Olivia Wiseman Fisher christened June 2nd 1827, Wesleyan, Great Yarmouth
Hannah Holt Fisher christened April 13th 1834, St John, Maddermarket, Norwich
Amelia Fisher June 1/4 1848, Norwich, volume 13 page 293 (I think thats correct, it is faded thus difficult to read)
I think this is the birth record for Arthur, this is the only Arthur born in Norfolk at about the right time, the 51 states he was born in Colkirk, which is in the district of Mitford...
Arthur Bransby Fisher March 1/4 1838, Mitford, volume 13 page 205

I'm really intrigued as to where the Wiseman (and Bransby) comes into all this, but so far I'm stumped!
Sarah Watts was christened December 5th 1773 in Swanton Abbot, her parents were Martha and Edward Watts.
Edward Watts married Martha Braddock on Christmas Eve 1771 in Swanton Abbot
They also had..
James Watts christened May 31st 1772
Robert Watts christened April 14th 1776
John Watts christened July 31st 1777
Elizabeth Watts christened June 4th 1780
Mary Watts christened March 24th 1782
Edward Watts christned August 22nd 1784
Hannah Watts christened March 19th 1786

Hi
I have traced this family back to 1713, to Skeyton, Norfolk, and then down the line of Jabez, and his son Frederick Charles Fisher. I still wonder where the names of Wiseman and Bransdy. Have you discovered their source yet?
Brian
