Title: Regan Clan
Post by: JeanClem2 on Sunday 31 December 06 02:54 GMT (UK)
I do hope this post finds a relative in Australia.

I am researching the Regan Clan.

The clan in particular is Cornelius and Mary Mahoney Regan.  They had 11 children in County Cork, Ireland.  There are 5 sons I have not been able to find.  Unfortunately I do not have any birth dates for them, but guessing they could have been born between 1860 - 1875.  Their names are Jerimiah, Patrick, Cornelius, Dennis and Timothy.  They may have immigrated to Australia between 1880 - 1900.

According to family legend, specifically my grandfather, he (grandfather) had relatives in Australia.  Sorry he did not say where and I guess no one asked.  Should any of the Regan clan see this, please e-mail.  I would love to hear from you.

Thank you for your time and trouble.

G'day Jean,

Welcome to RootsChat.

I have done a quick search of Brisbane records and have come up with a possibility -

Regan Patrick James    M    06 / 07 / 1954    87 years
Regan Mary Annie     F      28 / 11 / 1952  75 years
Both are buried at the Balmoral Cemetery in Brisbane [Portion 5 Grave 989]

You can check out the Brisbane sites at -

Best of luck in your searching ..............

There are three deaths for a Jeremiah REGAN - Victoria Australia 1921-1985

1924, aged 74 parents recorded as John Peter REGAN, Mary Elizth BRADY #1401

1951, aged 82, registered at Maffra, parents unknown, #21521

1951, aged 67, registered at Yarram, parents unkown, #19844

Were these sons married when they came out to Australia? as they may be able to be pinpointed to a location by using the wife's maiden name.

I searched 1889-1914 without seeing any for Cornelius as a father in Victoria, Australia.  I searched O'Regan as well.

Hello, Cornelius John Regan was my Mother's Father.  He passed away about 3 months before she was born.  He was married to Doris Annie Collins.
My Mother, Patricia Margaret (Regan) Kerr passed away in 2001. There was an older son, Cornelius Regan, he has since passed away too, I think in 2002/03. He had no children that we are aware of.   Myself and my 8 siblings are the only direct Grandchildren of Cornelius John Regan and Doris Annie Collins.
There were 2 half siblings born after Doris remarried.  Brian Jocelyn and Sharon Jocelyn Keyes.  Brian has since passed away too.
The Walshes are still in the Mitta Mitta area. They will be our family.

My siblings who are left were all born in Queensland.  One of my brothers lives in England.
I don't know much of the family history. That was a project of one of my older brothers, Neville Kerr. He only passed away in 2021.

Cornelius REGAN died 1934 aged 50, parents Thomas REGAN, Mary WALSH
Mitta Mitta, #16769

I was looking up other things and only discovered this post recently.
So I guess this is hello Family.   I hope this finds you after all this time.
