Title: Blackhall Mill - Which Parish?
Post by: gerryfitz on Saturday 30 December 06 20:09 GMT (UK)
I want to do a search on a birth in Blackhall Mill in circa 1828, can anyone advise which Parish it would be in?

I've looked on the IGI but can't find a Parish called Blackhall Mill?

If you enter Blackhall Mill in your search engine (Google or any other) you'll find quite a few mentions.

Further to my last reply, Blackhall Mill is a hamlet situated on the north bank of the River Derwent, one mile south of Chopwell.
If you go to www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/getamap and enter the co-ordinates NZ115565 you'll see it.  I'm afraid I don't know what parish it's in.

Go to http://www.durham.gov.uk/recordoffice/dro.nsf/vwebplaces
and click on Chopwell for details of the parish.

You've just beaten me to the punch, Stan  :) :)  The website you mention states that Blackhall is in the parish of Medomsley and the churches are Ryton Holy Cross (- 1828) and Winlaton St. Paul (1828 - ).
