I have an ancestor named William Blenkarn from Terrington, Yorkshire. In the IGI it says there are two marriages for William Blenkarn in terrington. 1791 to Betty Goodrich and 1792 to Hannah Bottrill.
In the pallots CD I have it has the marriage to Betty in 1791 Was in Terrington and The marriage to Hannah was in Settrington 1792. Can anyone tell me which one is likely to be correct?
Thanks
Gaylene

Hi Gaylene,
I have looked at Boyds and the entries are the same as your Pallotts CD ( with slight spelling variations)
Maybe there are two William Blenkarns? Have you looked into this possibility?
Good Luck,
Frances :)

Yes there are two I think.
Since the IGI says that the marriage to Hannah Bottrill is in Terrington and Pallots says that the marriage was in Settrington which is more likely to be true?
I am totally confused. And how I find out which one is the one I want I have no idea??
Any help I would really appreciate.

If he is indeed your ancestor, then you should be able to work it out from the baptism(s) of the following generation. The two wives do not have the same name.
Pauline

That is what I had thought as well. but unfortunately for both Williams they have only recorded the fathers name in the parish register. So both families look the same. This may be a wall I may not be able to get past I'm afraid.

More Confusion :(
I have just been doing some double checking on this and realised that these marriages are both 10 years out from your dates.
From Boyds
1781 BLENKARN WM GOODRICK BETTY TERRINGTON YORKSHIRE
1782 BLENKARN WM BOTTRILL HANNA SETTRINGTON YORKSHIRE
Pallot s being 10 years later ???
Pallotts
William Blenkarn Hannah Bottrill 1792 Settrington East Riding Yorkshire
William Blenkarn Betty Goodrick 1791 Terrington, Yorkshire
Does anyone have the original records on these marriages?
Frances :)
