Rebecca Howitt was born 13 Mar 1836 (Greasley, Notts) and married Frederick Housley on 31 May 1860, the marriage being registered at Selston, Notts.
The 1881 census shows Rebecca living at Palmerston Street, Selston, Notts with her two sons William and Samuel. Frederick is not mentioned but as Rebecca is not listed as a widow possibly he was not at home on census night.
Could someone please lookup the 1861, 1871, and 1891 census so that I can be sure that Frederick is still living and that William and Samuel are the only children.
Thankyou
Terry

Hi Tati
Thanks for the speedy response. This will require a bit of a study to take it all in.
The family sounds a bit disfunctional - 1901 Frederick is in the workhouse and Rebecca is living on her own means - coupled with his absence for the previous two census.
Have you had any experience with these sort of circumstances before?
Regards

In the above 1901 census, Rebecca Housley has two grandchildren staying with her, and from the differing surname (Green or Grun) they must be the children of her only daughter Mary Ann, who by this time would be 38 yrs old.
In the 1881 census Mary Ann Housley is shown as 18, unmarried and in service in Nottingham. I cannot find a marriage of a Mary Ann Housley to either a Green or Grun between 1881 and 1901. Can someone please help?
Also where was she at the time of the 1891 and 1901 census?

Sorry to keep dragging this out, but here is one last request for now on the Housley family
Rebecca's two sons were at home for the 1891 census where they are described as:
William H, 29, Brickmaker, b. Yorks Sheffield
Samuel, 20, Coal Miner, b. Notts Underwood
Is it possible to locate them on the 1901 census.
Sorry that's two requests.

Hi Terry,
I can't believe I've found this. I was researching my family tree and came across the exact same question as you've had answered here.
I fit into this tree like this:
Me - Keith Housley - Clement Housley - Samuel Housley - Fredrick Housley
Are you a long lost relative?!
Kind Regards
Matt
