I am researching the Alland family name. My g g grandfather was born in Bath, Somerset in the 1820s but I have come across Allands living nearby in Calne in the 1800s and am wondering if they are branches of the same family. Any information on this apparently unusual family name would be appreciated.

this is the only person with a name anything like Alland appearing on the 1851 census index for Calne

Thanks Kris for your replies and the information. I will try to clarify if Aland and Alland are one and the same family. Also, would a Greenwich Pensioner have been a military veteran? My ancestor was in the army.

Hi
I have a will of Richard Garraway of Malmesbury dated 1724 in which he bequeaths 20 shillings to his son in law Charles ALAND.
If anyone can link to this Charles - who must have married a GARRAWAY, I would be very interested.
