I have my great grandmothers London birth Certificate in 1851- Richard Street Limehouse. Her name was Elizabeth Faulkner.
The index says that the film for Richard Street is HO 107/1554 186-195. What I hope to find is other family members either at that address or nearby. The surnames I am looking for are Faulkner, Backway and Burrows. Could anyone with that part of the London census please have a look for me.
The family immigrated to Australia but I don't know when or where except they were here by 1865.
Thanks

Hi Liz
I have just been through all of Richard St Limehouse and could not find any of the names for you.
I wonder whether she married before the census was taken? Although you would expect her parents still to be there.
Sorry I couldn't help.
The only Elizabeth Faulkner showing on the 1851 index (and this is only a small part of what needs to still be done) is only 15 years old and living in Wandsworth.
Sorry,
Cougar

Hi Cougar
Thanks for your trouble looking! I appreciate it.
My great grandmaother was born 1851 and that is her address on the certificate in August 1851. Do you know what month the census was taken. Her two brothers were also born in the London region, according to their Australian death certificates so the whole family should be there. I had hoped at that address.

Hi Liz,
Census was taken on the 30th March 1851 - which is not going to solve your problem - what are the brothers names and do you have approx ages?
See if I can find it that way.
I won't be online at all tomorrow so will be Sat before I can look
Cheers Cougar

another thought - what was her married name and where in Oz did they come to?

Hi Cougar
I believe that it is her family that emigrated to Tasmania in 1855 then eventually (not sure how or when exactly) on to Brisbane Qld, where she stayed till she died in 1925. Her brothers names were James, born 1846 and John born 1849 in Stepney.
By the way it was 29 Richard Street on her birth certificate if that helps?
She married Benjamin Russell.
Thanks

We could do with more first names. What are the names of Elizabeth's parents?
I did find a James Faulkener aged 4 father Robert, is this the right family?

Have you had a look at the Tasmanian immigration site for them?

I have found some Faulkners immigrated to Tasmania, not sure if it the right ones thats the trouble. This was in 1855 and as I only found it in the last few days I am not yet sure if it fits. The couples names were James and Elizabeth Faulkner though it could also be Fawkner?
I just went and checked out the web-site you gave me but they were there not on it. The ones I found were on a microfiche in my local library, although there was not enough detail on it.

So Cougar you're an Aussie too? What part of the country are you from. I am from Brisbane, which is obvious I suppose!

Hi
Don't know if this will fit in with your lot or not but trawling through 1841 there was at 4 Waterloo Place Hammersmith,
Elizabeth Burrows, 55 Indep. born London
John 20 Printers appren. London
HO107 ED7 p101 and then nearby on P 105 at 13 South St
William Faulkner 15 labourer, London.

Hi Cougar
Thanks for all the info on the Burrows, Faulkners and Backways. Although none of it fits at present I will note it down re the address's and see if any other links come into it. As Backway is an unusual name it is possible that they may be related. I know almost nothing more about my Elizabeth Backway so it is hard to tell if there is any link at all?
I appreciate all of the information anyway. It may fit in later.
