SORRY SHOULD BE IN REQUESTS!!
I'm having a senior moment!
Emily Coole, born Abersychan 1870, parents Alfred Coole (Bristol 1845) and Elizabeth (Hennessy?) (Bristol 1845).
I can find her in 1881 (St Mary Street, Bristol - with mother only) listed as COLE and in 1901 (6 Bethel Road, Bristol) married to John Lovell (Bristol 1868).
Can anyone find her in 1870 (age 1?) or 1891? I believe they married in 1888 so she should be with John Lovell by then.
Is Monmouthshire in England or Wales - and has it always been so?

The full GRO index has no Emily Coole born in 1870. I found a Florence Emily Coole b December qtr 1871 Clifton 6A 114
It appears she was only christened on 13.1.1881 along with her sisters Elizabeth, Mary Ann and Bertha Coole
See IGI at www.familysearch.org
Monmouth has always been in Wales
The 1881 census shows the first 4 children b Wales and only Bertha b 1878 was b Gloucestershire so the family must have been in Wales in 1871. I can't find them on the Welsh 1871

Dear Peter
I am the great grandson of Emily Coole.
Her father Alfred did move to Wales where she was born and for reasons unknown changed the family name to Hughes.
Emily was born as Emily Hughes in 1870 (I have her birth certificate).
Alfred died in 1880 and the family had by then returned to St Georges in Bristol.
Emily was married twice. first time to John Lovell with whom she had 8 children (Ellen, Alfred, Gertrude, Lillian, Jack, Frank, Stanley, Tom. He died in 1908. She then remarried in 1911 to Thomas Henry Wilson with whom she had 2 further children, Lionel (my grandfather) and Ronald.
Emily died on her way home from the Brake Chapel in 1933.
The other children of Alfred Coole and Elizabeth Hennessey were
Alfred George Coole 1868 to 1915
Elizabeth Coole married Henry Iles (1872)
Mary Anne Coole married Francis Thomas Wood (1875)
Bertha Cool married Edwin Tom Bird.
I am happy to share information with you if you are still interested
regards
Gary

Hi,
I do know that Monmouth was once part of the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire as I have ancestors from that area, and it used to come under England.
