Dear Gill,
I am searching for the members of the Bowman family from Huddersfield Yorkshire @ 1944 /1945. I am hoping that you may be able to help..... this is a long shot:
My Grandfather was a POW in Germany in WW2 (an Australian soldier). He escaped the Great March and managed to get repatriated to the U.K. to wait for passage back to Australia. Whilst he was there he stayed with close family friends. I am researching his WW2 POW memoir and the people he stayed with were Mr and Mrs Bowman, their daughter Ethal (nee Bowman) and Harry (her husband) spent ten days showing my Pop much of the U.K. Ethal's brother was Arthur Bowman whom moved to Australia after WW1. Arthur died at Peel Estate, Western Australia where he had been working.
Like I said it would be a real long shot, I am searching for photo's of this trip. I understand that there were some that my Grandfather bought home with him that are now lost.... maybe there are still some with the Bowman family.
My Grandfathers name was Walter Smith.
Thank you for your time.
Kindest regards
