Did anyone see the history and rituals of tea and tea drinking last night? I thoroughly enjoyed it, thought it was very informative and we were so lucky to have so much old film of the factories and the factory outings.
My only criticism of it was that they used several pieces of old footage over and over again - one clip of a woman with a wire shopping basket I counted 3 times when I realised what was going on. I wondered if they had insufficient footage to last the whole hour - why not cut down the programme and make it less of a repeat within a repeat

Is my memory playing tricks or did we see that Lyons Corner House historian on an edition of WDYTYA? I can't remember who it was, but somebody had an ancestor connected with the company.

Could well have done - it was Nigella Lawson's family who were connected with Lyons Tea house

Nigella, who I believe does some sort of cooking show on television.
I only read the threads for interest sake. I do not know the people being interviewed but find the discussions interesting, and this one caught my eye as the latest twig on our tree is a very new Nigella.

I believe that Nigella's mother was the heir to the Lyons fortune, - & I must have got this info from watching her WDYTYR prog.
Romilly. :D :D
