thanks for the help but i keep thinking Jane Turner may have died before 1861 cause on a NZ paper i found on the net referring to the marriage of David Hughan and Hannah Jane Turner being the only daughter of Samuel Turner. No mention of the mother. Do you think this would mean that she had died?
-
Hi it could mean the mother had died but quite often it stated the fathers name.Do you have Samuels death cert it would state if he was a widower at the time of his death Good luck

regarding Samuel Turner i do have a death certificate dated 1891Caversham aged 77yr buried at Southern Cemetery Dunedin but pretty much no other details is recorded. So i dont know if this is the correct one. I dont know when he was born and where. i know he was still alive around 1876 from the elect rolls. regarding Jane Turner years ago i scanned the death NZ the only one i could find was a Jane Turner nee Dunn died 1864.
I have scanned the IGI for a Marriage for these 2 cant find a marriage for them in the UK They would have been married before 1845. They only had one child. IGI doesnt have Hannah Jane Turner born 1845 London either only what my uncle put in there.
Where is Caversham from Taieri?
-
Caversham is a suburb of Dunedin in the south of the city central business area nowdays.
The Taieri is an area of plains to the south of Dunedin through which the Taieri River flows and on which the major suburb of Mosgiel now stands. It also houses Dunedin's airport. A small range of hills seperates Dunedin from the Taieri area. but they are only a few miles apart. The Taieri was settled right from the time Dunedin was founded. It is low-lying, flat and still floods regularly. Good trout fishing though.

thanks for the help regarding Bill Sykes which did help me but its look like its going to be a hard case to crack. Nice guy he is. He found a Samuel Turner ploughman Waiwera 1888 from the Stones Directory And a Samuel Turner farmer 1907 Clinton, Stones Directory. Is there a cemetery at Waiwera? If not, what it the nearest cemetery?
-
Hi glad Bill could help it is frustrating at times isnt it.Sorry I cant help you on Waiwera as I thought it was up near Auckland in the north Island but if he has it in Stones there is [probably another one in the South Island Happy Hunting
Merry Xmas KateNZ :D ;D

Hi Kate
Yes the Mainland does have a Waiwera. It lies between Balclutha and Clinton, on the main trunk rail line but a couple of kilometres off SH1. No hot pools though.
