i am tracing my tribe family tree i have already had loads of help but i need a bit more if anyone can with help i have found my gg grandfather william henry tribe b 1862 married mary annie m in march 1890 both of these appear on the 1891 census but not on 1901 so i assumed they must have died i have found william tribe died dec 1894 aged 32 in lewisham in kent now trying to find out what happened to mary ???

I've looked for all family members in 1901 & absolutely nothing :( Maybe they emmigrated?
In 1891 they are in Ewell with assorted children the eldest being 10, born Brixton, Surrey which leads me to believe that they married way before 1890 :)
In 1881, William Tribe is a lodger at The George in Epsom age 19, musician, born Epsom. If that is William's death in 1894 maybe Mary Ann remarried but it's disturbing that none of the children can be found in 1901 which you would expect ???

this really is a mystery that they are not on the 1901 census from what i have found out so far ada the eldest child was living with mary hooper her mother 1n 1881 and mary's father frederick who is a widower which leads me to believe that ada was born before she met william all the other children then seem to have been born out of wedlock and william and mary eventually married in 1890 i think i have found two of the children edith tribe and ada who seems to be using her mothers maiden name hooper they are boarders in epsom working in a laundry. my great grandmother mary born in 1887 appears on the 1901 census in warwickshire i have no idea how she came to be here. i do not know where the other children are its very strange

Any information on the surname Tribe.
A friend's mother's family surname was Tribe. They were watermen on the Thames we think. His Tribe Granny was an orphen so he has very little information Sandra

Hi Zowster, we are also searching the Tribe family. My grandfather was Percy Alfred Jackson and he was married to Elizabeth. His mother was Mary Anna Maria born on Epsom Downs Aug 1887. The story goes that she was born a gypsy and sold to a family, probably the reason she ended up in Warwickshire. I used to visit her in Dordon. Would love to hear from you.

Hi Alison,
Good to her from you, i remember visiting uncle percy and aunt bet and also my great granny jack in Dordon. My mum was Mary Jackson John Jacksons daughter he was Percy's brother. I have been told the exact same story as you. I have got some research i could share with you but there are a few brick walls im afraid. They are very hard to trace. if you would like we can share notes. Looking forward to hearing from you.
