I have just found that my great, great, great grandfather, William Sparke, was from Barton Parva.
I think he was born c.1777.Does his baptism appear in the parish records? I know the family were non-conformists in later generations but they may have still been Anglicans at the time of his birth.
It is possible his parents were William and Frances, but I'm not sure about that.
Any info would be welcome.

Barton Mills is often referred to as Little Barton/Barton Parva to distinguish it from Great Barton (which is just outside of Bury St Edmunds).
There were Sparkes in the village in 1844 White's
Blacksmith - Richard Sparkes (and bell hanger)
Rachel Sparke
Also Richard Sparke listed as shopkeeper (probably same man).
The Baptist chapel was built in 1843 - but there had been an earlier building in the village.
I can remember looking this up for another researcher ;D
.....during the great storm of thunder, hail and rain on August 9th 1843 the building of this chapel was advanced so far as to be nearly ready for the roof, when the walls were washed down by the flood: but they were rebuilt and the building completed before the end of the year .....
The parish church is dedicated to St Mary, and the PRs are on fiche from 1663-1900 there are only 12 fiche to search, not a very populous area.
However, at some time the incumbent has refused permission for filming, so you will need to find someone going along to the SRO who can carry out a look up for you - or someone who has bought the fiche for their own research.

I had a look at Barton Mills PRs, but could not see a baptism for William Sparke around this time.
