Is anyone else researching the RODGERS family of Heworth?
They have a brilliant family headstone near the main entrance of St. Mary's, Heworth. The earliest of my Rodgers rellies that I know of was EDWARD (born in Heworth in either 1767 or 1768). There were two Edwards born to different fathers in consecutive years, unfortunately, so I can't work out which is mine. Edward R. married MARGARET BELLY/BAILEY of the Whickham/Ryton area on 4 May 1789 in St. Mary's, Heworth. Edward d. on 10 May 1839, aged 71, and Margaret d. 4 Oct. 1852, aged 85. Both were living in High Heworth.
They had five children that I'm aware of. There were three sons:
WILLIAM (born 22 July 1800), MATTHEW (B. 16 April 1803) & EDWARD (B. 24 June 1804). William is my 4X great granddad. He married Mary Ann (Margaret?) Forster in St. Paul's, Jarrow, on 5 June 1824. Wm. was accidentally killed in a coalmine explosion on 27 Dec. 1836 (aged 36). His wife d. 24 August 1859, aged 58.
If anyone would like to exchange notes about any of the above please feel free to get in touch.

Sorry Cherryberry,
I'm afraid we don't share the same Rodgers ancestors. Mine never arrived in Jarrow except for Mary Ann Kirsopp (nee Rodgers), b. 1836, d. 1884 (aged 48). She lived in Western Road, Jarrow.
Thanks for getting in contact anyway; it's always worth a try, isn't it.
Happy hunting!
