Title: Bailey 1881 census
Post by: trueblue on Tuesday 21 November 06 20:35 GMT (UK)
I'm trying to trace William Bailey born about 1857 in London who had a son named John Thomas Bailey in 1879 or 1880 possibly in Middlesborough. The family were travelling showmen.
The 1891 census shows William at Sunderland with wife Ann born 1870 and two young sons, so I think this may have been William's second wife. The eldest son at that time was born in Middleborough.
Any help re' Wiiliam and John in 1881 would be appreciated.

Regards Stuart

Hi

You can search the 1881 census yourself free of charge at www.familysearch.org or at www.ancestry.co.uk

CaroleW,
I suspect the problem is that Stuart has searched the 1881 census himself but can't find the family he wants.
If they were travelling people they might have slipped through the net??

Jennifer - I had quite a good look last night and didn't come up with anything either? I can see why Stuart is puzzled?

Thank you all for your hard efforts, I'll get the birth certificate as detailed by Jan and go from there.

Thanks again, Stuart
