Post by: rachelmstvl on Tuesday 14 November 06 00:11 GMT (UK)
Donovan family from cork.  Michael Donovan married Julan/Julie anne/julanne Reagan/Regan.  marriage was sometime between 1918 - 1928  They had 6 Children.  family from kirls quay (spelling?) and i think mallow and cork city are significant.  Julan died sometime in 1930's.

This is the 3rd ad i have placed, but have had no replies, someone please help.

Hi

As you have the names of both of your great grandparents and a possible location you could apply to The General Register Office for a copy of the marriage certificate. If you were successful you would then learn the names of both fathers and the place they were married.

Try to give as much information as possible - names(variations on spelling), approximate date, religion.location etc.
If you 're not sure of the exact area in Cork you could maybe send a copy of your grandmother's birth certificate which may help to identify the location.
The cost for each certificate is ten euros.

Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so you would have to rely on parish records before then. Only Church of Ireland marriages go back to 1845.

I've enclosed the link for The General Register Office. Have a look at 'About Us' etc. If you click on 'fees' and scroll down you should see the contact details for the local offices including Cork(who accept cash payments).  I think it's usually quicker to apply to the local register office.
It may be a good idea to ring them first with the details you have and they should advise you  if you have enough information.
