Title: WW1 Medal Card
Post by: SandieB on Monday 13 November 06 08:29 GMT (UK)
I am wondering whether anyone can fill me in on the attached medal card - I think it may be that of my grandfather. I'd like to know what  the reference number signifies and anything else please!  Many thanks in advance.

Hi Sandie,

The figures in the section entitled Roll and Page next to the medal one refer to where you would find them recorded in the original Medal Rolls. The Medal Rolls are held at Kew and a search of the relevant one may (or may not) give you more information on the named soldier.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Is a trip to Kew the only way to access the information?

Afraid so Sandie unless you either know someone who is going there and might do a look up for you or you have a researcher do it for you.
