Sorry made a mistake in the first posting.

Monica (Blaisdell) is the wife of James Connors, son b/1905 (not daughter)
May have a burial place at St Marys in Cortland NY for James Senior.

Hi Belle

Just did a quick exact search in 1930 and came up with James and Monica immediately.

1930 census, living at 401 Shomnard? Street, Syracuse, Onondaga, New York

Head of household, James J Connors, rents home $40, age 26, first married at age 23, born New York as were both parents, occupation Chauffeur Lumber Co.

Wife, Monica, age 20, first married 17, born New York, both parents born New York

Daughter, Ellen K, age 1 9/12, born New York

I will now have a delve through the census's for the whole family and see what comes up

Best wishes

Agnes

Hi Belle

Now I am going to give you these details from the 1910 census, even though the name of the household doesn't match with what you have said as I am pretty certain that it is your family. It was very difficult to find because James has been indexed incorrectly with the household of Ida Ramish.

Living at 601 South West Street,  Syracuse Ward 11, Onondaga, New York

Head of household, Larry Connors, age 40, Marriage 1 for 10 years, born New York, parents born Ire English, occupation Laborer odd jobs
Wife, Nora, age 38, 1 child, 1 living, born New York, parents born Ire English.
Son, James, age 5, born New York

In the 1920 census, Nephew, James age 15 is living with Daniel Duggan, age 42, single, born New York as were both his parents, his occupation is Laborer Milling Company.

Also in the household is Daniel's sister Margaret, age 52, single also born New York, her occupation is Dressmaker working in own home.

They are living at 416 Shonnard Street, Syracuse Ward 12, Onondaga, New York (sorry! still cannot read the Street very well)

I cannot find his parents but will keep looking as well as hopefully finding them in 1900 married, fingers crossed

Belle,

Just had a peek myself. I love a hunt. I found a Nora Connors in the 1920 and 1930 census in Leroy, NY. She is a widow, in 1920 she is a housekeeper and in 1930 she is a boarder. She is with William Tobin (age55) and John Tobin (age 15). William was born in NY of Irish parents. And John is his son.

In the 1930 census, it is just William and Nora.

Hi Belle

I have found a Nora Connors in 1920 living in the household of William Tobin and his son John at Harris Road, Le Roy, Genesee, New York

This nora is shown as being a Housekeeper, age 48, widowed, born New York, both parents born Ireland, occupation is shown as Servant Private family.

If this is your Nora, she is still with William Tobin in 1930, a servant age 58, widowed and shown as married at age 24. Her parents are shown as born in the Irish Free state (the 1930 census differentiates between Northern Ireland and Eire)

Still looking in 1900  ;)

Hi all,
Just trying to get my head round all this information.

1910 census I have a Margaret head 41 & Daniel bro 32, Mortimer bro 25(all Duggan) & Daniel Mahar nephew 17, at Syracuse Ward 12,

1910 census, Is Larry/James & Nora Connors,& son James age 5 b/NY,
living with Ida Ramish,

Nora connors I have living in Leroy in 1921,again on an Obituary

1921 Obituary Syracuse Herald,for a John Duggan,
Margaret is living at 416 Shonnard st,

Between 1910 & 1920 James Connors (Senior) has died??
which leaves Nora as a house-keeper,
sorry I'm feeling a bit confused!!!! HELP. Belle  ???

Bingo. I have them in the 1880 census in Otisco, Onondaga County, New York (near Syracuse). Father Daniel Duggan, 42, born Ireland, farmer; wife Margaret, 35, born Ireland, at home; children (all born NY) Mary, 15; Johannah, 14; Margaret, 12; Nora; 10; Patrick, 8; John, 8; Ellen, 7; Daniel, 2; and William, 1 month.

Let me look in the 1900 now. And for James/Larry.  ;D

Hi Belle

I had an oops moment with Daniel/David but you should see that I have edited that info, sorry  :-[

Also, I should have made myself more clear...when searching the databases for "James Conn?rs, born NY, 1905 +/- 2" in 1910, I found a James that did fit and on looking further, I saw that he was indexed with "Ida Ramish". On looking at the image, I missed him at first because he certainly wasn't in Ida Ramish's household and in fact was right at the top of the census image. So I moved to the previous image where I found "Larry" and Nora, the details did fit apart from "Larry" which is why I gave you the details.

I must admit that I haven't checked to see how the Connors were indexed as I took the details from the image itself.

Nora in 1920 is widowed and living in the household of William Tobin and working as an Housekeeper. I do try not to infer anything and just put down the details as they are on the image for obvious reasons because I don't want to make assumptions about relationships. In this case, I would think that James senior has died sometime between the census's and Nora would need to have work to support herself, which is possibly why James junior is living with his Uncle and Aunt.

Unfortunately, I do not know of your references to the obituaries and presume that someone has looked these up for you or you have obtained them from the US. Also I didn't look for the Duggan brother's and sister's in the census's, just for Nora and James.

It's good to see that you have the information though  :)  :)

I really hope that I have made things clearer, although I am a little tired and so may well have made things worse  ???  ::)  ;D  ;D

If there is anything else you need, I would be very happy to have a look

Very best wishes

Brilliant Kath

;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Why didn't I think of that  :-[

I hope you have some luck with the 1900, I just can't see nora and James at all

I have Daniel (Nora's brother) in the 1900 census living with the Hurlbut family in Otisco as a servant. Daniel Sr is in Otisco with daughter Margaret, 29,  and grandson Daniel Mahar, 7. Margaret is actually listed as wife, but I think it is daughter.

Patrick and John are living together in the 1900 census in Otisco.

I have a William Duggan in Syracuse in 1900 as a boarder with a Watkins family. I think that accounts for the boys. The girls are harder as they go and get married.  ;D

Now I need to run and be a parent  ::). I will come back to this and the Connors later, unless Agnes finds more.

I have to agree with Agnes. I can't find those Connors. I found this:

Name:     James Connors

Last Residence:    13201  Syracuse, Onondaga, New York, United States
Born:    3 Jun 1904
Died:    Nov 1967
State (Year) SSN issued:    New York (Before 1951 )

It's a long shot, but I thought it could be James Jr.

Hi Kath & Agnes,
Thanks so much for your input, It all looks as if it fits with the family I'm researching, the main branch of this family is the Duggans, its the daughter Nora Duggan b/1869-70 NY I'm looking for who married James Conners & his father Larry or James Connors.

I had a lot of help with the Duggans on a thread I posted last week from Ohio Susan & Peggy, thats where I got the info about the Obituaries
and alot more

The 1930 census for Monica & James & daughter Ellen K (KATHRYN) but what does age 19/12 mean ( these people are definitely mine).
Also the other info seems to fit, the places are right.

just one more thing there is a Mrs Jeremiah Keef (husbands name I think) on two Obituaries (I think her name is Nellie?), she is mentioned as a sister to the Duggan girls in 1953 she must have been born after 1880 as she is not on that census. She is also mentioned in 1962 as having a son The Rev Paul Keef.Is it at all possible that you could do a look up for her, hope I'm not being a pain, MANY THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK.
Belle.  :)

Hi Belle

The age for James and Monica's daughter on the 1930 census is not 19/12 it is 1 year 9 months, which I have typed as it appears on the census 1 9/12.

1900 census

219 Hall? Street, Syracuse Ward 8, Onondaga, New York

Head, Jeremiah Keefe, born Feb 1870, age 29, married for 3 years, born Ireland, both parents born Ireland, imm year 1893, 7 years in US, Alien, Freight Dealer
Wife, Nellie, born Jan 1874, age 26, 2 children, 2 living, born New York, both parents born Ireland
Son, Francis, born Feb 1898, age 2, born New York
Daughter, Mary, born March 1899, age 1, born New York

If this is the family you are looking for then you will probably find that Nellie is in fact Ellen age 7 on the 1880 census. Nellie being a pet name for (H)ellen.

There is possibly a lot more info on this family but unfortunately I have to go out now. If no one else has found anything later, I will do more searches.

Best wishes

Agnes

Ok, got them in 1920.

There is Jerimiah, Nellie, Mary, Daniel, Catherine, Helen, Julia (the one I couldn't read), a son and daughter at the bottom of the page and unreadable, Margaret, 9, Leo, 6 and Paul 5. They are still in Syracuse. The two unreadable ones are 14 and 12, so that must be Jeremiah and Bertha.

Which takes us to 1930: And here we have Jeremiah and Nellie, along with Mary, 31, Margaret, 20, Leo, 17 and Paul 15. I can't actually look at the census, as it only produces the first few lines. Funny, but my family was in Syracuse at the same time and the same thing happens for my great-uncle. I have tried to let ancestry know, but to no avail.

I have found a death record for Jeremiah Jr., which has his birthdate as 28 May 1906 and he died June 1983 in Syracuse.

I have a Leo Keefe born 21 Mar 1902 in New York, died in California 3 Mar 1968.

I think that's it for now. Let me know if I can find anything else for you.

I have to run now, but I will look into the obit stuff in a bit. This is my neck of the woods. I am 35 miles from Syracuse right now and my dad's family was from there. I feel a kinship ;D.

I would possibly say he had no wife or kids and just siblings and nephews, although I don't recall the name Mortimer off the top of my head. I'll let you know.

Thanks Agnes.

Naughty boy he was hiding, must have been born 1915,
They could have done with television in those days,so many children!!
Inmate over here usually means prisoner.
It would seem information is more detailed in US then over here.

When looking for the Duggans I was given a site for St Patricks RC Cemetery Otisco, both Nora & Moica Connors are there.

I was wondering if there is a site for St Marys in Cortland NY,as I think this is were James/Larry Connors was buried, looks like he died between 1910 & 1920.
Thanks so much for all your help.Belle.
