Does anyone know if there are any good books written about this?
I have a relative who was a tailor called William Collumbell who was involved in a turnout a few years previous in 1825. Apparently there was also a Collumbell involved in the 1833 Turnout (though I'm guessing this probably wouldn't be William as he was a little old).
Just wondered how tailors worked in Derby in those days? and what relationship they had with the mills? The info I have, I found on line from " Graham Stevenson
articles, speeches and monographs on political and trade union themes"

Hi
We call it the Derby Lockout, there is a leaflet for sale on e-bay at the moment
Item number: 200055689620 by Philip Whitehead.
Not reat this but thought you may be interested.
It would have been reported at the time in the Derby Recorder Newspaper.

I'm going up to derby at Christmas and hope to get some time in the local history library, I'm hoping to look through the newspapers while I'm there.

Hi
I've done quite a bit of research on the Collumbells since I first posted the above request.
In fact I've pretty well mapped every Collumbell in Derby into one tree. I have your William on my tree with his children Joseph and Maria except I didn't have a father for him.
I suspect his father was David bpt 21 Jul 1767 this David was definitely a tailor, I have a son William for him but perhaps I have the wrong William?
I need to look into this a little more.
