Title: ST John's Church Liverpool
Post by: erin21 on Sunday 05 November 06 21:42 GMT (UK)
On the IGI I have found listed a christening on 24/07/1881 which was in St Johns Church Liverpool.   The family were living in Toxteth at the time. Does any one know if this church was in Toxteth and also are the records available any where?

Hi Erin !

I wonder if your St John's is this one  ?? .......

It wasn't unusual for families to go to the downtown churches !!

liverpool archives online catalogue search:

http://archive.liverpool.gov.uk/dserve.exe?dsqApp=Archive&dsqDb=Catalog&dsqCmd=Search.tcl

if you put 'haymarket' in the search, its lists St Johns and what records they hold for it

Celia

you are a star that link you put up enabled me to find and contact within 10 minutes someone at the other side of the world ,who is connected to one of the families I am researching. Her mother is still alive at 95 and so will be full of information. So many pieces of my gig saw may be solved for me.

Thanks  it just shows what putting a small piece of information forward can do to help
