Hi Jim,
I have Fairweather's in my tree but they come from Kirrimuir, I think some of them went to arbroath, John Fairweather c1782, his family were Ann 1808, William 1812, Mary 1814, David 1816, Agnes 1821, Alexander 1826, Charles 1828, Robert 1833.
William's children were Jane 1840, Hellen 1854 Agnes 1856 and Betsy 1858.
there are probably more, I am still working on them just now.
cheers Fae Janemarie

Hi Jim, They were mostly either linen weavers or woolen manufacturers in the Montrose area but as they married their spouses they moved around, my line
moved to Arbroath then ended up in Dundee, as I said before I am still researching, cheers

Got a Clementina Low(e) from Montrose (Angus) d.30 June 1863 married to Joseph Spankie. Just visited the Rosehill cemetery at Montrose where Low / Lowe certainly seems a popular surname.
Got other details unpublished at the moment, happy to share.

Ann McNicoll Low was my 2nd great Grand Aunt, her father George was my 3rd Great Grandfather. Do you have any info on them.

I do have lots on the McNicoll's. my maternal grandmother was nee Helen Bogue McNicoll. Her father was Daniel Low McNicoll, whose father was John Aberdein McNicoll, the younger brother of Ann and 2nd son of George McNicoll and Jean (Jane) Stevenson. There is a family grave in Arbroath Abbey Burial Ground. The inscription is as follows:
(front) To the memory of George McNicoll, corn merchant, Arbroath, who died 15 December 1844 aged 52 years and his wife Jane Stevenson who died 9 December 1859 aged 59 years. Also in memory of James, son of John McNicoll, died 7 April 1866 aged 4 months and Ann died 31 March 1877 aged 20 months.
(reverse) In memory of David, son of James McNicoll, died 16 March 1868 aged 5 1/2 months, and Mary Jane, dau. of James McNicoll, died 15 December 1868 aged 2 years 9 months. John McNicoll, mason, died 24 November 1880 aged 42 years, James McNicoll died 13 February 1895 aged 58 years, Susan Baird, wife of the above John McNicoll, died 9 November 1905 aged 65 years.
I'll try and send you a PM with my personal e-maill address on it.
