Hi folks,
Am searching for ANY information available on Newman GOLDING.
I believe he was born 1835 Oakington Cambridge and came to Australia in 1852.
Interested to know when and where he died and also if he married.
I assume he came to South Australia a lot of his family were but not 100% sure on that.
Thanks in advance,
Lilygirl.

Hi Lilygirl,
I see a lot of Goldings from Cambridge on these ships but no Newman. Did he ever use another name? I can see most of these in Oakington in 1851 but no Newman, although there is a Newman aged 17 lodging in Rampton. Going back to the 1841 Census I see he appears to be son of Edward and Maria. All on passenger lists. Brother Uriah has a son Newman in SA but so far have found no mention of Newman in SA..Kris ???

Hi there,
Yeah that's him in Rampton in 1851.
Found reference to him in some Cambs Strays saying he emigrated in 1852.
Maybe he went somewhere else??
Just assumed Aust coz of other family. One went to NZ I heard at one stage but haven't found who yet.
Can't seem to find anything about him after the 1851 census.
Any other suggestions?
Lilygirl.

Lilygirl, I found the following on the Western Australian Historical Births Index
http://www.justice.wa.gov.au/portal/server.pt
and go to the Family History link.
- unfortunately no parents listed .
GOLDING NEWMAN A Male N COOLGARDIE 35 1907
I could not find a death or marriage for your Newman so there may not be a connection.
I couldn't find him in the New South Wales Indexes either.....deeiluka

Hi
I think further to deeluka's find in the WA indexes that the name may have passed to a descendant.
http://www.naa.gov.au
shows a man with a similar name in Western Australia as an enlistee.
