BIRTH: Sarah Alice Baker abt 1836 ish Hampshire father Thomas

MARRIAGE: William BEAVIS and Mary Ann ? abt 1825 in Hampshire

Hi Amy,

This is a shame: absolutely zilch matching the criteria you gave.  I found a William Bevis m Elizabeth Rogers 1829 in Hursley in Hampshire, but nothing on James Fordham and Sarah Alice Baker. :'( Sorry.

I wonder if you'd mind having a look for a birth of a Frederick Thomas born either 1865/66 in Liverpool, he has done my head in for months, and if possible a marriage between Frederick Thomas and a Sarah Ann Jane Powell between 1892 and 1900,I can't find anything about him, and I'm almost at the point of hiring a professional in order to keep me from going insane.
I know you'll probably be inundated with lookup requests, so whenever you get the chance I would be very grateful.

I wonder if I could ask if there's any light past my own major blockage? John Maltby married Esther (maiden name unknown). They had a daughter Charlotte born in 1819 (no sign of siblings) and were living in Beddern (which I believe is a workhouse) in York at the time Charlotte married. I have been unable to find any information about the birth of John or the marriage to Esther. Any help most deeply appreciated.

I would be grateful if you would look for a birth or marriage record for a Martha (married name Dobson) born 1804 in Nantwich if at all possible. Sorry I don't know her maiden name or hubbys name

Also if you could shed any light on a Mark and Luke Hilton born 1900 - 1910 in Wolverhampton parents Henry Hilton and Mary Meers you would have just solved one of my major headaches

I wonder if I can take up your kind offer please.

I am trying to trace the marriages of:-
William Bennett to Hannah Curzon which probably took place in Hanley/Shelton (the potteries) Staffordshire
near to the birth of their first child* in 1839.

And son William Bennett* to Sarah Jane Abbott which probably took place 12.03.1870 near to their first childs birth, William Henry, unfortunately I do not know where this occurred, at this date they were in Portsea,Portsmouth,Hamps.

My efforts with the LDS on-line have proved negative.

I've found a John Maltby b 21 May 1778 baptised 29 July 1778 Willoughby Lincolnshire, parents John & Esther! but this seems a bit out date-wise. Also found an Ann Maltby baptised St Maurice York, parents John Maltby & Esther 8 Mar 1827.

I'll come back to this over the weekend.

Hello

If possible could you please look for a birth/christening of an Elizabeth Anning born approx 1808 in supposedly Devonport Devon to a Benajmin Anning and Elizabeth Walker.

I hope I am not asking for too much here but I also  have a Catherine Piniwell/Puniwell who married in Devon a William Williams approx 1800 , hoping there might be some other entries for a lady of such an unusual name.

Sorry, your Hiltons do not appear.  The records for Wolverhampton don't seem to go up to those dates.

Martha Dobson - can't help at all there - Nantwich records included on the CDs only begin in 1821.  Without a maiden name it would also be very difficult to search for her with the way the index is on the CDs - all the names beginning A on one,etc D-F on another etc  Sorry about that.

Nick,

Maltby seems to be a Lincolnshire name although there are some in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire (particularly Scarborough).  I could not find any further children of John Maltby and Esther in Willoughby in Lincolnshire but did see a child of George Maltby and Esther, a son Thomas, baptised 5 Jul 1781 born 29 December 1780.  (FHL film No.989787).  George Maltby & Esther Burnett were married 24 May 1773 in Willoughby, Lincolnshire (FHL film No 1541981).  So I wonder if the baptism for John in 1778 has been mistranscribed.  There is no record included for a John Maltby and Esther in that period.

A John Maltby married in Willoughby in 1823 to Mary Lucretia Lenton.

The two baptisms I gave you yesterday are the only ones in this index with the parents John & Esther Maltby.

Hopefully something in all this will help you.

Thanks for taking the time to follow up on my queries. I need to check all the facts I know for certain. I have John Maltby's name on Charlotte's wedding certificate. He had died by the wedding in 1840. His occupation was leather dyer, but I'm not sure if that provides any clues as to his origins. Oh well, life would be boring if we could all get back to the 1560s with all the lines of our tree without any problems along the way.
