Hi Erin
Thank you for your offer of help. In particular, I am looking at Charles Houghton b. 1859. He married Ann Hewitt b. 1863. Their children Charles and William were placed in an orphanage/workhouse (Fazakerley Cottage Homes). I seem to have lost Ann Hewitt at his point?!?
I am experiencing difficulty with this area of my search. Hope you can help.
Kind Regards
Catherine

Hi my name is Karl
My Great Grandfather A HOUGHTON fought in the Boer War 1899-1902
No, 7051 Pte Volunteer Service 1st Battallion South Lancashire Regt
I'm still researching his date and place of birth.
His Daughter Rose Hannah (Brodrick) is still alive she is my Nan.
As she is now 97 I'm unable to get clear precise information.
Alfred (I think) also had a son James J Houghton. bth Rose and James are listed as born Prescot. see Free BDM site for details.
After the War he Lived in Woolton Village (which in that era, was within PRESCOT)
James J unfortunately died many Years ago but his son Michael served in the forces for many years inc SAS
Michael was brought up by Rose
Hope that helps in some small way
I have a service picture of A Houghton which I can scan and send if you give me e mail addy
I'll try attch here 1st

Dear Catherine,
I am seeking information on Charles Houghton who was born in 1894 in Warwickshire, we believe in Rugby. His parents were Charles Houghton and Lily Brown? (not a Hewitt). We do not have any further information as far as family names. Charles Houghton is my husband's father - he had children late in life. My husband has had his yDNA analyzed at Oxford Ancestors with the hope that someone else in the family in England did likewise, but no success so far.
He is from the clan of Sigurd of Norse/Norman patrilineal ancestry. If any of this sounds familiar to you, please get in touch with us.
Sincerely,
Nancy Houghton
