Title: Beckingham, Newark 1888
Post by: nigelrixson on Thursday 26 October 06 13:17 BST (UK)
I have a record on IGI for a distant rellie, John b.abt 1888 in Beckingham, which is just to the east of Newark. However, on the GRO birth record database, the only John listed around this date is listed in the district of Nottingham. Now, when I look through the GENUKI registration district listing both Newark and Nottingham have the district code 7b.

I would be interested to know your opinion if these are likely to be the records for the same person.
Thanks

I don't know if this helps, but I believe that Newark is part of the Nottingham Post Code!

This probably does not help but my own ancestors originate in Newark and Beckingham. One of the problems I had initially was that there is a Beckingham in Nottinghamshire and one in Lincolnshire. Beckingham, Newark is in Lincolnshire.
