My gggrandad was John Robson. He was born in Leeming c 1790/1. I am trying to find his birth and as there are so many John Robsons it is proving tricky!!
He lived in Bedale and was a vet. He was married in 1833 to Elizabeth Husband and they had several children.Any help tracking down his birth and parents much appreciated.

Hi Lynnesl0t :)
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/NRY/Burneston/index.html
Firstly, have a look at the above link, Leeming is in the parish of Burneston.
According to the 1861 census John Robson was born in approx 1788.
IGI records state:
Christening - Burneston, 03rd. August 1788
John Robson
Parents: Thomas and Jane Robson
Do you have the census details? If not I will quite gladly
post them for you.
Meanwhile I will try and track down Thomas and Jane in 1841 etc.
Regards,
Pels :)

Hi again, :)
I was hoping to take you back further through Thomas, but sadly have drawn a blank. There are possibilities, but that is all I'm afraid.
I did find this transcript from the Baines directory of 1823:
Leeming.
John Robson, Blacksmith and Farrier.
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/NRY/Burneston/Burneston23.html
It looks likely that John, in later years returned to his former profession.
Best wishes,
Pels :)

Have you made contact with Ann Moyes or Andrew Robinson who share John Robson as a common ancestor, contact me for details. Andrew has John Robsons dob as 1788 not 1790 as found in the Baptisms at Leeming as son of Thomas and Jane Robson. He lso traced 5 sibling baptisms also!
