Title: Who is this witness? (completed, thanks)
Post by: Stumped! on Tuesday 24 October 06 15:35 BST (UK)
There were the witnesses at my grandfather's wedding in 1904.
No 2 is easy..it's his sister but no 1: is it Euaun John Addenbrooke Cook?
With a name like that you would think he would be easy to find but I can't find him anywhere.
If anybody can locate him I would be grateful
Peter

Well there are Addenbrook/e Cooks in the Staffordshire area, but unless you can suss out how to attach the image, we can't unfortunately help with who the one on your certificate may be (I'm the same with attaching images, been trying to add a pic to my profile for months now!  :-[ )

No, it's a new name to me. Do you think it's Edwin? I thought it was Eauan.
I'm only following it up as I've heard so many rumours and stories about Grandfather that I thought it might be worth following up.

I think it's Edwin - try comparing letters in the word with others on the image that you are sure about.
If you compare the second letter with the "d" a the end of the word "Established" they are very similar.  The writer only gives his d's short "stalks".

Also he doesn't always put put a dot over his i's.

My money is on Edwin, at the very first sight   :)

I'm also sure he's the one found by subee on the 1891 census.
Birth Walsall March 1884: Edwin John A Cook

OK, I'm convinced! ;D
(Especially since I can't find anybody by the name of Eauan).
I'll start trying to find out a bit more about Edwin.
Many thanks for all of your help.

(And I can post images :P)
