Hi,
Could someone look up this family for me on the 1851 census please? Someone kindly found them on the index for me but I would like information re: occupation, place of birth etc.
Cox's Alley, Hinckley
William LEESON c1818
Hannah (wife) c1818
John (c1839)
Elizabeth c1841
Maria c1843
Sarah c1845
Emma c1847
Eliza c1847
Bond Street, Hinckley
William LEESON c1787
Elizabeth (wife) c1791
I'm not sure whether the next family will be on the census - they didn't appear on the index I was given:
Henry LEESON c1813
Mary (wife) c1816
Mary Ann c1851
Thanks in anticipation,
Maggie :)

Hi Tati,
Thank you very much - just what I needed :)
Maggie
-
I just can't see Henry & Mary :-\
There's a family with same names, same ages at Leicester St Margaret but I had to rule them out - they are still around later :P
-
Thanks again Tati,
I've now been able to find loads of Leesons in Hillmorton Warwickshire Parish Records following on from William Leeson's birthplace which you found. Could you just double check the birthplace for Elizabeth please? I can't find anywhere called Arboro on my map - I suppose it could be a tiny hamlet ::)
Henry Leeson is proving elusive :-\ I have him on the 1871, 1881 and 1891 but can't find him on others!!
Thanks again for your help - it's much appreciated.

I can see Henry in 1861 at Hinckley:
RG9/2260 90 15
Hinckley - Tan Yard
Henry Leeson, head, 48, Ag lab
Mary, wife, 44, Seamer
Mary Ann, dau, 10, scholar
Henry, son, 7
Walter, son, 3
Emma dau, 7 mo
All born Hinckley
I'm afraid the 1851 does say Arboro' for Elizabeth...
-
Wow, Tati - thanks for finding Henry on the 1861 for me I didn't think he was there and thanks for looking at the place name again. I shall investigate the place name further later :)
Thanks again for all of your help Tati - it's much appreciated :)

Hi Tati,
Just thought you might like to know that I think the name of that place might be Harbury in Warwickshire :) I have come to this conclusion through deduction - trying to think of places which sound similar - I then looked at the Parish Records and found some Knibbs living in Harbury - Knibbs was the maiden name of Elizabeth Leeson :) I couldn't find an Elizabeth Knibbs' baptism but I think I might be on the right track ;) I'm reckoning that Harbury might sound like Arboro' when said in a 19th century Warwickshire accent ;D But there again I might be completely on the wrong track - that's been known ... several times in fact :-[

Just to add to your confusion
There's Narborough
and Market Harborough as well.
Peter
-
Thanks for that Peter ::) :-\ :'(
-
Greeting's Again Maggie.....
There is a HARBOURNE (part of Birmingham South)
which is in Warwickshire.....
Narborough & Market Harborough are defiantly in Leicestershire.
MIKE.
-
Hi Mike,
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply - thanks for the information.
I think that Harbury might be the right one - I have found Knibbs there - but I have made a note of Harbourne too ... just in case ;D These Leesons seem to get everywhere ::)
Maggie :)
-
I note with interest that Maggie says KNIBBS was Elizabeth LEESON's maiden name. I'd love to have details of the wedding or whatever and will then look for her baptism.

Hi Alan,
The marriage I have for Elizabeth KNIBBS is:
William LEESON married Elizabeth KNIBBS at St Mary's Church, Hinckley, Leicestershire on October 12 1814.
I have not been able to find very much information on Elizabeth except that I think she might have been born in 1796 in Warwickshire - Harbury I think .... :)
I would be very interested in any information you have on the Knibbs family - I have very little at the moment. I have loads on the Leesons though if that is of any interest to you.
Maggie :)

Hi Maggie, wondered if it could be ATTLEBOROUGH which is part of Nuneaton, just down the road from Hinckley. If fact i am playing football there later!!
Kev. ;D
-
Hi Kev,
It reads Harbury - but you never know do you?
I do have some rellies in Attleborough but they are in a different line ;D
Maggie :)
PS Enjoy your match ;)
-
Re the 1814 marriage, I see she is given as NIBB in the IGI.
The search continues.

Maggie do you have Henry in 1841: at Bond Street, Hinckley
Henry Leeson 1816 Ag Lab Leicestershire
Mary Leeson 1821 Leicestershire
Priscilla Leeson 1840 Leicestershire
Kev. ;D
-
OK folks, do you buy this?
The K/NIBBs in Harbury date from earlier times.
An Elizabeth KNIB was baptised at Newbold Avon on 15 Jul 1792 to William KNIBB & Mary nee PEGG. To the north is Harborough Magna, not that far from Hilmorton. I had no trace of that Elizabeth until now. Her brother James was at Lutterworth in later years. Sister Sarah still unaccounted.

Kev, I do have that Henry and Mary Leeson in 1841 but thanks for that anyway ;) Henry and Mary were my gggrandparents :)
Alan, thanks for the information, I didn't know about the Elizabeth KNIB from Newbold Avon - so are you saying that she is more likely to be my Elizabeth? I was unsure about the Harbury one but that was the only one I could find on the IGI who was born near to the date I assumed my Elizabeth would have been.
Do you have anymore info. on the Newbold Avon Knibbs please?
Maggie :)

This is what I have put together. I found William as LEASON, a widower, on the 1861 census at ancestry and hence conjectured death dates of his wife and himself. First a listing then a family group - I haven't 'placed' William at the head of the tree:
