Could some kind soul try to find my 2x gt Grandfather James Stirrup before 1871. On the 1871 census I have him living at Dixon terrace, no 8 Tatlock St. His mother Margery (or possibly Margaret) is a widow living with him and his family. RG 10, Piece 3760, Folio 64, Page 22. On all censuses he is down as being born in Liverpool. I have his marriage certificate which states that he married Sarah A Whittingham on 1st April 1867. They were both living in Dawson Street and were married at the Parish Church Liverpool - I'm presuming that was St Peters. His Father was William Stirrup and was a glass blower as was James. Both James & Sarah were minors so he would have to have been born after 1846.( censuses give it as either 1846 or 47) I have been through all the James Stirrup's and William Stirrup's for most of the country but can't find any that match. I have tried various spellings of Stirrup but nothing. I'm getting a bit frustrated now :'( I think they must have landed from outer space. They moved to St Helens between 1871 & 81

Hi,
Have you seen this on the 1851?
HO107/2178 Folio 584 page 30
2 Court No. 16, Liverpool (sorry can`t read address on previous page)
Margaret Styrup, Head, Wid, 54*, Liverpool
Julia, Daur, 7, Scholar, Liverpool
James, Son, 4, Liverpool
James Blundell, Lodger, U, 18, Coal Heaver, Liverpool
* As Margaret would have been too old to be the mother of James it is possible the enumerator read her age 34 as 54.
Regards,
Mo

Hi Mo. :Yes I had seen that one , but James's father was still alive in 1867 when he got married ( well at least it doesn't show on the certificate that he was deceased) and I think he died abt 1869. Thanks for looking though.
