Hi
From memory the Record Office is opening one or two weeks after the museum.
Opening something like 10am to 4pm Wed - Sun.
60 places, no need to book.
I'll try and get definite details.
Where is dixymick when you need him? (our 'that area' expert!)

Dixymick last heard of ancestor-hunting in Ireland.

Hi emjay
Ireland - really? A bit further than his usual haunts. We might not see him for some time then!! Hope he has some good 'finds'.

Hi Helen,
The sooner he gets back the better - his vast knowledge of the streets of Cambois is desperately needed!
-
Think he's on his way home! I got a postcard from him yesterday.. glad to see my genealogist chum is held in such high esteem!

Hi habanero
Good stuff - he has been missed. But don't tell him - it might go to his head and we can't have that!!
I'm looking forward to a post about his first visit to Woodhorn - I imagine he'll be up there pretty sharpish!

Well my ears were burning as I strolled where the "mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea".
Have been in County Down. Visited PRO Northern Ireland in Belfast twice. Found what I was looking for each time, within 20 mins... but not for me for someone else.
(PRONI allocates a "host" to each visitor, who sits you down and invites you to outline what you are after, then takes you by the hand to the appropriate part/machine/film etc.)
I intend doing CRO in Woodhorn week after next.
And as the plane flew in from Belfast yesterday afternoon, I could see Cambois (and Cowpen) clearly below us... ( plane flew past N/C airport, out to sea, then turned round to land against the wind... a very bumpy ride with gale blowing.... )
To lighten the moment for other passengers, I pointed out Blyth Links cemetery below... not my cleverest comment !

Nice one Michael.
Fellow family historians might have appreciated the attempt at distraction. Others may have thought it strange. ;D
I found it funny, though. ;)
