http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx is going to be your first stop for finding further bmd records.  Note also on the name-indexed 1984+ index there is a Donald Mengham d. May 2003 Newham district of London.

There is also on www.bt.com phone directory one Mengham in London - and this is at an address in the Newham area which is apparently East London.  The Mengham name is not so common that I would think that Donald's entry on the death index and the address of someone by the same name living in the same area is a coincidence, so your friend may wish to attempt contacting them.

Hi, I am June Mengham's daughter, from her second marriage, after she was married to Donald who she had a daughter with.

Hi. I’m Donald’s granddaughter from his second marriage. I’m afraid I cannot provide any information about him from his younger life before he lived in London, and it’s very unlikely anyone else would be able to on his side either, so I’m not sure I can be of any assistance really.

Hi , I know that mum and Donald's daughter was born in 1952 and was adopted soon after she was born when they split up,it is proving hard to find further information on her after that.

Until stumbling upon this post I never knew of your mum or their daughter. I was actually trying to find his position in the Navy! He never talked about his life before other than the Navy, not even about his childhood really.

Oh gosh, I hope I have not upset you in anyway by informing you of my mum and their daughter, who is of course my half sister. A family friend who knew my mum very well at the time she was with Donald had mentioned he was in the Navy that he was stationed in Malta possibly, not sure if that helps you in anyway.

Oh no, please don’t worry. I’m not upset at all. I think I always kind of knew there must be something that made him reluctant to talk about things. It’s nice to know something, as the last living person to remember him now my sources are limited! Thank you for the information 🙂
I do hope that you are able to find your sister.
