Hi

Thanks for your offer.

I would love it if you can find any information on the following in KILMARNOCK

Robert Service CAMPBELL
He was born about 1816
married to a Margaret HOWIE in September 1841.

I don't have any other details than that, so anything extra you can add would be fantastic.

Hello
You kindly replied to a request I posted on the 9th November regarding Roxburgh's in Galston. I have finally managed to work out that the John Galston (b1826 d 1897) is probably a branch of my tree! He seems to be the elder brother of my gg granddad. I have his baptism as 11/9/1826 so it seems to tie in. Was there any other info? His parents were John and Agnes (born Gebbie) and his siblings were Grizel, Jean, Elisabeth and James

Hi, Bob,
Would much appreciate if you can tell me if there are any records of Fairs buried in the Kilmarnock to Galston area.

Particularly the family of Thomas Fair who was killed in a mining accident in Galston in 27 Sep 1882.

The Fair family moved from Kilmarnock ~1850 through Crougar to Galston.

Thanks,

Jim

Bob, I don't have any requests about MIs at the moment, but could have soon if you are able to help me with some local knowledge.  I am trying to trace my wife's family, and I'm getting stuck with locations.  The 1901 Census gives relatives as living  at Boyd Street (at least I think that is what it says) Loudoun, but a slightly later Marriage Certificate gives the address as Boyd Street (definitely) Galston.
From your local knowledge could you tell me if these are the same street?  I can't find Loudoun on Autoroute, but it does show Loudoun Golf Club as quite close to Galston.
I am also having problems with the fact that the Census shows a place of birth as Catrine, but there are no records of any births of anybody with that name being born at the corresponding time.  There are however 2 births with the correct name, and withing the right time period in Sorn.  I know Sorn and Catrine are fairly close together, so do you think it likely that a person born around 875 in Sorn, could give there place of birth as Catrine on a Census form?  I also have a Birth Certificate from 1899 showing the address as Brewland Street, Galston, which is again not far from Boyd Street.  As you can see, if I can identify the locations correctly, I could well be coming back to you to check for MIs.
Hope you can help me,
Regards,
MalcolmS60.
