Hi Liz,

There is a Sarah J. Birkbeck b 1897 MIdd Moor, Durham on the 1901 census, father is Christopher 41 a Coal Miner Hewer, does this fit with the marriage cert if you have it.?

I will take a look and see if I can find their marriage (if any) you can then order them from Family Records Centre by phone or online also from your local registrars offfice I believe. You do need this to confirm her fathers name.

Hi Liz

Checked the gov index's 1912 - 1919 no sign of a marriage. Do you have any idea when it might have been?

Ah, so she was about 29 when she married, as a rule of thumb I always start from 20 plus 5 years or so. if you know for certain that she married Water Noble, the area is right I was say that is a pretty safe bet and worth sending for.

Once you are sure of  her fathers name you can then trace her family back through the census's.
