Matthew Dancer and Elizabeth Sherewood married on 26 July 1688 in Wendover. They both came from Monks Risborough.
-
thankyou for that hopefully i can get a bit further back now if you hear of anything else i would be most grateful
-
I am also descended from Matthew and Elizabeth. Their son Joseph married Sarah Forrest 1758 Wendover, and I am descended from their son Silvester b 1763.
I have not been able to get any further back either (despite looking at the parish records on microfilm - the early entries are very hard to read)
However, I have as possible relations to Matthew, found in the Wendover parish registers:
Henry Dancer born about 1653 Wendover married Ann Wright at Wendover in 1677
James Dancer married Adery Welch (1640-1685). They married Wendover 20 Oct 1670. Children:
Thomas 1671
Sara 1673
Mary (died 1685)
So there are somemore possiblelines of enquiry there if descendants of these can be found

i know that in wendover there is a place called after the dancer family i am moving to a place near wendover in the very near future with any luck i will be able to find some links do you happen to know the church they were married at
-
I think there is only one church in Wendover, St Mary's.
There is a tiny place called Dancers End east of Wendover but I don't know the history of the name
-
Have details of Elizabeth sherwood and all the timberlakes up to today
-
I am also related to Matthew Dancer and Elizabeth Sherwood if anyone has any info to share on either of these two i would greatly appreciate it.
I have it listed that Mathew's father is Joesph Dancer who is married to Dorcas Stevens (who is on a royal lineage).
But i can't for the life of me see how people have married Joesph to Dorcas, i have posted on another post asking for help with that problem.
Hope we can discover lots together!

Hi
Nothing definite for you but I am descended from Sylvester Dancer who married Ann Gower. He was born Chesham 1659, christened in Tring 9 Jul 1659 and married Ann 29 Sept 1690. The history I have for him is:
parents: John Dancer chr 16 Dec 1627 Tring, wife unknown.
grandparents: Michael Dancer chr 21 Feb 1601 Aston Clinton, mar Elisabeth Seare 12 Apr 1624
ggrandparents: Silvester Dannser or Daunser b c1570 Aston Clinton mar Elizabeth Hitchcock 4 Apr 1591
gggrandparents Henry Daunser d 1590 Aston Clinton mar Agnes unknown
ggggrandparents Thomas Daunser d. 1557 Aston Clinton
I think Silvester must be a family name so if it is in your branch I would say they converge at some point. I have used Chesham regs/Bucks quarter sessions etc from Ancestry.com Buckinghamshire cd, IGI plus Hugh Wallis parish records to come to the above, unfortunately I don't have records at hand at the moment to quote which source for which person. There are a lot of Dancers in the Chesham, Aston Clinton, Tring areas so that would be a direction for you to look at.

I am also related(Although nothing has been backed up with certificates yet, apart from online).
From Edward Green 1905 through James Green 1867, Hannah Dancer 1835/40, James Dancer 1801, Robert Dancer 1753, John I Dancer 1722, Sir Colonel Robert Dancer 1680, Matthew Dancer 1641, Joseph Dancer 1610, Matthew Dancer 1587, Robert Dancer, not sure of date, John Dancer 1550 and to Sir Henry Danser 1530. I have a direct line through grandparents all the way up. Sir Henry is my 12th Great Grandparent. I would suggest that any information you have seen here that you check it out before you use it. Please only use it as a guide because I haven't backed it all up with source sitations myself yet. Welcome to the family everyone!!! Gill.
