Title: Unusual Middle Name
Post by: Corsend on Thursday 05 October 06 12:28 BST (UK)
Spotted in the births index for 3Q 1876 in Greenwich:

James Experiment Egan

Suggestions on a postcard for what his parents were experimenting with!

Wow, Corsend  :o :o ;D ;D

That certainly beats all, I would think.  At least he would have stood out among all the Toms, Dicks and Harrys!

It could be the name of a ship. I have a convict ancestor who was transported to Australia on a ship of that name.

Much more fun to think of a slightly more exotic reason for it though!! I'm going to take a guess and say they were experimenting with some form of alcohol :)

Perhaps it could be the mother's or a grandmother's maiden name?
