hi weemary,
There are five Mitchell's listed but unfortunately none are named Thomas. I have listed the five here just in case you have a link. They are, George Mitchell d1841 at Ellon/ Gilbert Mitchell d1844 at Foveran/ Isabella Mitchell d1847 at Invenrury/Patrick Mitchell d1848 at Ballater/ Jean Mitchell d1853 at Gallowgate.

If you can find either
Alexander Shepherd or his wife Elizabeth (nee Pirie), you'll hear cries of Eureka wherever you are in the UK.
They have been a brickwall of mine forever - completely disappeared between the 1841 and 1851 censuses, and of course the civil reg of deaths in Scotland didn't start til 1855 so I'm struggling.
Go on, make my day! ;)

Hi Jill,
sorry to say I'm no Clint Eastwood (more like Clyde) so I can not make you day. There are no Shepherd's listed nor is there an Elizabeth Pirie. There are however six other Pirie's and I have listed them in case you may have a link,
Mrs Annie Pirie d1844 in Aberdeen wid of Geo' Kerr/ George Pirie d1846 at the Schoolhouse (Aberdeen?)/ James Pirie d1849 at Guernsey (was a jeweller and goldsmith in Aberdeen)/George Pirie d1851 at Schoolhouse (Aberdeen?) aged 76/ Rev. John Pirie d1851 at Schoolhouse Methlic/William Pirie d1854 at Bon-accord St (Aberdeen?)
The (Aberdeen?) is of my making as there is no place of death after their names.

Hi,
Thanks for your kind offer, would it be possible for you to have a look for Helen Ogston (nee Milne)?I would imagine that it will be between 1851 and 1854 if that helps. Thanks alot....
-
Would you be able to tell me if a Mariner/Seaman named Mark Adamson is in your book? He was married in Aberdeen in 1846, his last child was born in 1850, and his wife stated in the 1851 census that she was married but not (yet) widowed. Mark was not with the family on census night.
The wife remarried in 1855. :)
Thank you

Hi Flo'
There is only one Ogston noted in the booklet and that is for a Helen Ogston (don't get too excited) who died aged 10 on 8th December 1848 she was the 2nd daughter of Alexander Ogston of Ardoe and she died at 86 Loch Street.
I would like to think that she fits somewhere in your research.

Hi BD,
Sorry there is no Mark Adamson in the booklet. There are however two Adamson's mentioned. These are, Jean Adamson wife of Lt Andrew Reid R.N. who died at Ruthrieston on 4th April 1848 and Mary Adamson who was 73 when she died on 6th July 1852 she was the widow of Alexander Gavin Esq and died at Strichen.

I have a question...I was wondering if there was any way to look at more current obits? My husbands great grandparents were from the Aberdeen area. They had a farm in Upper Mastrick. I have a picture of the farm and it states Grandpa Clubb's home before the business district was built.
His name was Andrew Clubb born 6 May 1844, married 2 june 1870, to Jane Smith born about 1849 she died abt 1920. According to my husbands Grandmother she was struck by a car and died from injuries.
Is there any way to look at obits in the early 1900's?
Thank you in advance.

I see in an earlier message that you list a George MITCHELL at Ellon in 1841. Does the entry have any other information please?

Hi Richard,
The information for George Mitchell is as follows;
George Mitchell, d 21st January 1841 at Ellon in his 75th year Surgeon.
sorry I can not help supply any more than that.

Hi Paula,
Firstly I have had a look for any Clubb family in the booklet that I have and unfortunately I can not see any. However the Roll of the inhabitants of Aberdeen dated 1795 has an Alexander Club noted in it. Unfortunately it does not give any other details so it may not be that helpful to you if there is a link there or not with your Clubb's. As for your question with regards to obit's for the 1920's etc I can only suggest that you e-mail the Aberdeen archivist with the details that you have as he/she will be in a better position to tell you how to go about your search (you never know if you feed them enough details they may even do it for you). You can find the archivist addy if you go to www.aberdeencity.gov.uk
sorry that I can not help you myself.

Thank you for the information on George Mitchell. According to the grave digger records of New Deer, he was buried the same day under the stone of his grandfather.

Thank you for the info I will try that and see where I get, who knows I may have to come over there and do the research for myself...I just have to convince my husband that is what I need to do. hahaha
From Paula in Maine, USA thanks!
