I have an old hymn book in my possession that belonged to Margaret Jane Weddall dated 1886. This is of little value to anybody but family. I would love to have something belonging to my ancestors so if I can reunite this with its rightful ancestors I will be happy to part with it.
I have researched Margaret Weddall, and know who she is. Who she was married to where she was born, married etc. All that I ask is proof that your are a descendent and the book is yours for the cost of postage.

Hello. Would you be able to tell me where Haddlesey church is as that name is one of my ancestors middle names. Charles Wray Haddlesey Guard born in 1825 at Hope Cove, Devon. I haven't been able to find much out about that name so far. Thanks. Deoxy

Hi Haddlesey is a village in Yorkshire. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rykbrown/haddlesey.htm this link may help you find out more information about the Haddlesey family.

It was nice of you to provide a link. I wonder if my relative had a Yorkshire mother or grandmother. He also had Wray as a middle name which might be Scottish. He was born in Devon and in the end settled in Southampton. Quite a mixture. It was interesting to read about the Haddsley name. Thank you. Deoxy

Wray is also a place in Yorkshire, have you considered that your family may use place names as middle names? There is definately a Yorkshire theme in your family names.

After looking at your posts and picking up some other answers names did you know Belton was also a place in Yorkshire? I definately think that the Frecknall/Guard line of your tree will lead you back to Yorkshire. Good hunting.

Hello Schmidt, I didn't know that Wray was a place in Yorkshire and I hadn't thought about place names being used as middle names. Thanks for that. They might prove to be useful clues. Deoxy

Hello. I think that Charles Wray Haddlesey (Haddelsey?) Guard is probably not named after places but after a person: the Reverend Charles Wray Haddelsey (1760-1832). Perhaps CWH was his godfather or perhaps he baptised him. It has to be said, however, that CWH spent most of his life in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, and I'm not aware of any connection with Devon. Thanks very much for taking the time to pass on this information about Rev. Haddesley. I think my Charles must have been named after him as you say. It would be quite a coincidence to have all those names together in the right order otherwise. That's really interesting. He must have made quite an impression on Charles' dad or mum for them to name their son after him. I now know, thanks to another descendant of his, that Charles father was James Guard, a customs house officer and his wife was Eliza/Elizabeth. I found a James and Eliza Guard on Genuki with a daughter born in Hope Cove, Devon like Charles who would have been a couple of years younger than him. This James was born in Gwinear, Cornwall and was a coastguard. I checked on Rev. Haddesley and Access to Archives had records of him petitioning for help from a bishop's charity. This was over several years including 1825. My Charles was born in March of that year and on Dec 12th Rev. Haddesley was petitioning again and the record and the previous ones said Rev. Charles Wray Haddesley of London. Another search came up with The Gentleman's Newspaper ( a different site) 1833 and had him at Holton Le Clay in Lincolnshire. This was an obituary. I'll look forward to passing on the information you gave me, to his other descendant. I'm sure she will be as intrigued as I am. Thank you very much for your help. Deoxy

Hi deoxy
I might come close as I am resraching the Weddall/Weddells of Scotland. I have a Grace Weddell/Weddall born c1854 maybole Scotland, married a James Matthews in Tasmania, but as yet haven't located the marriage. I have 1 son listed from the Tas archives. I have found that Grace's mother was a Margaret in 1861 as was her 19yo sister.
Is this the same family??
Look forward to hearing from you.

:) Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. My ancestor was only named after the original so I think Flame Keeper or Stehad would be the best people to ask. Wish I could have been more helpful. Deoxy
