Hi everyone
I have in my possesion a scroll presented to my great grandfather Arthur George Hopkins. it was presented to him on the 15th of september 1925 for saving the life of a drowning women on the 12th of august of the same year, off the coast of scarborough. I was wondering if such an action would have made the national papers? If so how would I go about searching them?
any advice would be appreciated.

i don't know about the nationals but would certainly have been a big story in the local scarborough papers, suggest you contact them, kali (i dont know the local papers name's sorry)

It looks as if the North Yorkshire Records office covers Scarborough - you should be able to find them on an internet search. It does say that they hold film of local historical newspapers. I couldn't find an email address for the archive service but this is the library phone number: Tel: 01609 533800 - I'm sure that they will be able to advise you.

Can't find it in the Times so I would try the regional newspapers.
