Title: BAKER/FORD Marriage - Please Help
Post by: katietk on Monday 02 October 06 22:15 BST (UK)
Help. I've been searching the BMD's for a marriage between Frederick James Baker & Elsie May Ford (my gg Grandparents).

I don't have a date but my Grandma was born in 1922 and according to her birth certificate her parents, Frederick & Elsie were married and living in Mount St, Reading.  I've tried searching back from this date (10yrs so far) looking at both their first & middle names, both surnames but so far I've found nothing.

I am fairly confident that they are Reading born & bred so can any help?

Katie

You could try the Reading Register Office - their records will be more accurate than the GRO and they have marriages indexed.

Hi

I've just changed my post as I've realised I made a huge mistake and was searching for a Frederick James Chapman when it should have been Baker.  Been searching Chapmans on the other side of the family for so long I made an error.  Sorry for any confusion and thanks for your advice about searching at the records office in Reading - I plan a trip there sometime soon!

My advice was to try the REGISTER Office - not the RECORDS Office - both on the same site (with the Berks FHS Research Centre in between).
