Post by: lashmar on Friday 29 September 06 13:26 BST (UK)
Would some kind person please look on the 1841 Census  for:

Thomas DENCH b. 1820  Lyminster, Sussex

I think his parents are William & Frances but he could have already left home.

Many thanks
Kay

Hi Suey
Thank you very much for the 41 Census details although not sure they are mine, however I have put them on the possible file!

Please excuse my bad manners for not replying sooner.

Hi
There is no obvious candidtae for your Thomas Dench in 1841.  How do you know his birthdate?    Can you quote another census record?   Presumably his marriage certificate will give his father's name.  Do you have that?

Hi Andrea,

Many thanks for the 1851 Census details re: Thomas Dench.  Unfortunately the 1861 & 71 details are for a HENRY DENCH and not THOMAS!

Regards
Kay

Sorry - the 1861 should be Thomas Dench then the next one is correct as Henry Morris.  I will alter the post!  Good job one of us is on the ball!

Hi Kay
Thomas's parents (William and Frances or Fanny) were my 4 x great grandparents.  Their daughter Eleanor married Henry Cook.  If Thomas was a mariner and cannot be found on the 1841 census, maybe he was at sea when the census was taken.  I haven't been able to find Henry on the 1841 census either, so maybe he was a mariner and at sea also.  I have a little more information about the family and am willing to share.

Hi Yvonne

I really don't have much on the Dench family - not one of my main families!  Most of what I have gleaned is as above and that William married Frances Hills 8/6/1809 Arundel, Sussex.

Sorry about that but good hunting!  If I do come up with anything new I will let you know.

Kay
