Hi roots chatters
Tidying up loose ends I need help with my gggrandfathers occupation from the 1871 census. I am interested in william Chapman.
Class RG10 Piece 1007 Folio 62 page 10 for St James Dover.
I'm trying to make out the name of where he lives and his occupation its something keeper but what?
many thanks in advance.

Looks like Beer Shop Keeper to me...
Some of my farmer ancestors also kept pubs!

I'd go for beer shop (named the Plough)

I was wondering if it was farm labourer and beer house keeper.

Yep it looks like the address is Plough beer Shop, and occupation looks like Farm Labourer and Beershop keeper.

Could it say Beehive Keeper??
Whatever it says, it is the same as the address
Plough ? ?The two words look the same as in the occupation column
-
Think it's definitely beer shop keeper.
One of my ancestors was an ag lab on a farm where the farm house seemed to be a local hostelry :)

Thanks for the help everyone. I knew you would be able to help. I can now do some hunting into this as it makes a change from farm labourer and gardener which he is listed as on previous census returns.
many thanks
