Title: PIPE Family Framlingham
Post by: shepherdgirl on Monday 25 September 06 00:36 BST (UK)
Can anyone help me with a George & Mary Pipe born in Framlington, during the 1780's ?

Suffolk is a new county for me and I'm struggling with finding parish records for Framlington.

Is it also known as something else for lookup purposes ?

They had moved to Barking (London/ Essex) by census of 1841.

Many thanks for any help.

I think its probably Framlingham

On Boyds marriage index this appears.

George PIPE
Mary RICHARDSON

1805

Hasketon

Maybe a longshot, but a possibility.

From my personal transcripts of Framlingham PRs (made in 1971/2 when I first started researching Fram and had borrowed the information from the Canon at St Michaels over a weekend)  :D

George Leggate/Suggate base born son of Bridget Pipe bap 8th July 1781

There is a further note to say that William and Bridget Leggate had a son Henry baptised 17th August 1783.

Can't find my folder of typed (yes, typed on a very old fashioned typewriter) marriages, will see if I can find anything for William and Bridget.

Wow - thanks for that - would appreciate any info when you get time to look for your folders.

Wonder why they moved ? It looks a lovely place - rather better than Barking and Dagenham have matured. Although to be fair in the old days before the London overspill, Barking and Dagenham were very agricultural areas as well, shame they didn't keep the vilage charm.

Thanks again

Hi

I have connections with the PIPEs from Framlington.  They start with a William Pipe (b abt 1611), next is William Pipe (b abt 1649 in Saxtead and died in Framlington), a couple fo generations on John Wilgress Pipe (baptised at Framlington in 1751) had a daughter Mary Wilgress Pipe (b abt 1785 in Monk Soham).  Is this the same Mary Pipe?

Hi Russ

Sorry I worded my original message badly - I was referring to a George Pipe and his wife Mary ?. From Suepips reply Mary may have been a Richardson.

My George seems to have been son of a Bridget Pipe - have you any connection to a George or Bridget  as the Families may be related somewhere ?

Regards

Hi all
I've just arrived here, and am new to genealogy.

I don't suppose that the Pipes you are talking about have a link later to Jeremiah Pipe b 1832 in Brundish do they ?

I have found it very confusing as there seem to be several Jeremiah's about at that time, and suspect that they are all one family but can't differentiate between them and backtrack to find the common source.

Any help to a newbie much appreciated.
Mike

Can I just point out that we keep getting repeats of a mistake here - the market town is FRAMLINGHAM   :)

for more info including a lot of the history of the town go to
www.framlingham.com

Back to the Pipe's - I have Pipe's in Brundish (out in real bow and arrow country)
I don't seem to have a note of any Jerimiah's although our lot seemed to have a liking for the name Elijah !

PS There is a lovely book of old photographs, pub 1975 if you can get hold of a copy on any of the old book web sites (it was replublished several times)

Ah ha!
You can do all sorts of things at Rootschat dear Wookietoo  ;D

The Pipes are connected to my husband's maternal line through Maria b 1840c daughter of Elijah and Rachael who married William Pendle - their son James was my late mother in law's grandfather.

I may be able to spend some time at the SRO in a few weeks time (busy with Suffolk Local History council work at the moment) - if I can get some time I have Brundish PRs on my list of look ups to be carried out  ;)

Ah yes, that would b the Maria christened on 18th of Jan 1846 as a 5 year old, together with brothers James and Jonathan   ;D

I thought the names rang a bell and trawled through my notebook from my last visit.

I have a bookfull of jigsaw puzzle pieces, but can't seem to fit them together  >:(
