Looking for the marraige of Henry Harrison born Walsall, to a Maria born Madeley
Owned Pebble Mill Farm, Birmingham. BBC TV station now occupies the land. Have found them on all census but want Maria's parents names. Marraige certificate does not show fathers name.

Madeley parish registers are covered on the IGI 1645-1828. No Maria Kams or Kames or anyone with that surname, but it could be a baptism after 1828 (if one appears in the register)
Other than the Mormon church member IGI submission is there any proof this is the correct marriage?
e.g.
Marriages Dec 1850
BUCKNALL Maria Kings Norton 18 592
HARRISON Henry Kings Norton 18 592
A bit old admittedly and a Mary (which sometimes is interchangeable with Maria) and she might wnat to appear younger than her husband.
MARY BUCKNALL
Christening: 23 SEP 1821 Madeley, Shropshire
Father: JOSEPH BUCKNALL
Mother: JEMIMA
What was Maria's maiden name on the birth certificate of any of her children? Was it Kame?

Well done Valda :)

Until there is proof re Maria's actual maiden name from one of her children's birth certificates for instance, which marriage is Henry's and Maria's can't actually be proved.
e.g. 1861 gives 4 of their children. The surname is wrong on the census page it isn't an indexer's mistranscription.
1861 census RG9 2136 folio 134
Latimer Street South Court Birmingham Warwickshire
Henry Morrison 36 Blokwith, Staffordshire, Head Married Keeper of cows
Maria Morrison 34 Madeley, Shropshire, Wife Married Housekeeper
Harry Morrison 9 Birmingham, Warwickshire, Son
Elizabeth Morrison 7 Birmingham, Warwickshire, Daughter
Emma Morrison 5 Birmingham, Warwickshire, Daughter
Lucy Morrison 2 Birmingham, Warwickshire, Daughter
Lucy's birth certificate looks a reasonably safe bet
Births Dec 1858
Harrison Lucy Ann Birmingham 6d 52

Back again my friends.
Right this is where I am at the moment. We have two marraiges for a Henry Harrison, one is to a Maria Kame in 1850 with the father as Thomas. The other is Maria Bucknall married same date, the certificate shows no father. Where she was at the time of marraige was Edgbaston, Birmingham on her marraige certificate. which is where Pepple Mill Farm was on the cencus records.
Henry was born in Walsall, Staffordshire. Unfortunatly I have come across two possibilites as to who his parents were.
My main interest is in who is the right Maria. I may have to end up flipping a coin???
You have confirmed all that I have found on the records, but I feel that if I stick with you talented folk I will eventually get somewhere.
My thanks again.

If you hold both marriage certificate details you also know what occupation each Henry had at the time of their marriage.
On the 1851 census Henry, the husband of the correct Maria, was a wheelwright. The couple lived at 91 William Street in the St Thomas district of Birmingham.
If you can't distinguish which Henry is the correct one from their occupations and residence, then purchase one of Henry and Maria's children's birth certificates as it will have the mother's maiden name on the certificate.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did send for a certificate for Lucy Harrison but the wrong certificate came back, then it only had the fathers name. I will send again for one of the children's. As you say it will help me find our who exactly is the mother.
I have a strong felling that the children that were on the census, Harry, Elizabeth, Emily ,Lucy (Whose certificate I sent for) Mary Ann and Alfred Edward (My grandfather) were born to Maria Bucknall. Maria Kame I have not been able to find at all at Madeley. I even had a researcher look but he gave up.
Robert
Ps I think this the most responces I have ever received from a chat program. I am very grateful to you all.

There is no evidence of Maria Bucknall either in the Madeley registers - just evidence of the surname Bucknall. If Maria didn't give a father's name on her marriage one would normally expect that to mean she was illegitimate.
Emily Harrison one of Henry and Maria's daughters was living with her parents on the 1891 census. The household also included Emily's husband.
Marriages Jun 1879
Harrison Emily Helena Kings Norton 6c 571
PAGE Alfred Emanuel King's N. 6c 571
By the age of their eldest child, plus her husband's name on the census Alfred E. Page this would definitely be the couples' marriage. I haven't found Emily Helena's birth registration on FreeBMD but if you look in the GRO indexes themselves you will hopefully find it, and now at least you know her full name - Emily Helena.

FreeBMD give charts to show their coverage of each quarter in the GRO index.

so you don't have to check quarters where they have full coverage.
