Thanks for details of Patricks marriage etc. Now I beleive Daniel Lawrence is his brother, How do I prove this? Sorry Jenn I transcribed incorectly, it is Daniel not David and if he is Patricks brother then his father should be Charles as per the info from Ozybob. Maybe there isn't a connection.??? More questions than answers

Hello there Evie
I do not that the marriage Bob has given you is in1871 born 1846 and Daniel Lawrence is not born until 1874 in victoria a large gap for siblings not unlikey though but worth pointing out
why do you think they could be brothers???

Hi
Well it looks like the Daniel Lawrence Jenn found is your man.
On NAAA, the middle name is spelt wrongbut there is a full digit copy of record.
.He was born in rural vic but seems after that to live in SA. He is married to Agnes Amelia and they have 5 children. Although he is certainly an older soldier, he sees active service before being diacharged for crook kidneys.
a good read!

MMmmm...
NAA shows Daniel Lawrence as a butcher.
I see now that David Lawrence seems to be Patrick's son and the second name Lawrence may be for his mother's father, Lawrence McCarthy.
Who were the parents of the Daniel Lawrence Gillespie you found in Vic Jenn? [reply 2]

hey Sue my message may be a bit unclear but I found daniel lawrence gillespie on the NAA site and a birth for a Lawrence Gillespie in Victoria in 1874
Would suspect that the birth was not recorded in victoria or ????
I went through the index with just first name mothers names etc but no luck

Yeah, yeah, I get it now Jenn.
It took a more careful reading!
Here are a few Cemetery notes [as per usual]
From sags.
Gillespie....
Charles P. 1901
David 1928
Amelia 1944
Agnes Amelia 1986 [bit odd this one. If ours, she is 106 or something!]

Hey All
Wow loads of info here. You asked what made me think Patrick Gillespie and Daniel may be brothers. The following story appeared in the newspaper Terowie Enterprise April 1891 ??? (Date to be confirmed)
Accident
A narrow escape from serious consequences happened to Mr Gillespie, who, in company with his brother, was driving over Moran’s crossing of the railway line, near Yarcowie last week. When just within a few feet of the rails they noticed a goods train, and the horse was quickly severed, the train passing within a foot or two of the wheel of the buggy. Mr Gillespie heard no whistle of the train, which was the goods from Adelaide, due at Terowie about noon.
So this got me thinking which some days is dangerous, I had a feeling about Daniel Lawrence Gillespie being a Butcher same occupation did it run in the family. Daniel Lawrence Gillespie had 5 children if he was 43 when he enlisted chances are his children may have enlisted too. Just thinking out loud now. Patrick and Isabell son Eugene Anthony is buried Gnowangerup Cem. No sign of Isabells final resting place, is it in WA or SA. Still trying to confirm Ozybob info on Patrick buried Yongala 1901.
Now after all this who is Patrick Gillespies brother mentioned in Newspaper article above?
